I'm intrigued by AdBlue consumption Matt. Mine seems to use hardly any and in my ownership I've yet to need to top up the AdBlue tank...

That equates to Adblue consumption of 3,204.7 miles per (adblue) gallon.

I've topped up again today, 2.5 litres, full now and was last top up too.
140098 miles now, approx 134500 miles last time = 5,598 miles
5,598 / (2.5 / 4.54) = 10,165 miles per (adblue) gallon.

Or, in short, not enough to get a meaningful comparison with the book figures!

This week, Diagbox told me I still had 4500Km to go before topping up was needed. I've done around 10,000 miles so far on what was in the tank when i bought the car...

Do you wait for the warning and then top-up or as and when it seems like a good plan?

So far, chucking it in whenever I get chance. I was very keen to get some of the Wynns anti-crystalisation additive in there, hence brimming the tank (plus enough additive to treat the full 17 litre tank capacity) as soon as I got the car.

Servicing this weekend seemed a good opportunity to see where it was up too. Though I said it didn't seem long between fills and I was quite surprised it took 2.5 litres, I'm also surprised it's as much as 5,500 miles covered too!

Should we await the warning and only top-up then? Also, do you use any anti-crystallisation additive?

Yes, Wynn's Crystal Clear and Protect dosed in with the adblue every time is the plan for me.

I intend to take the injector out the exhaust for a quick look at some point (a summer job, definitely!) but nothing to suspect impended doom at present!

I've read this thread about tank / pump "failure" (actually proven to be pressure sensor failure) with keen interest:

I'm also considering buying the various parts used as the fix and keeping them ready in case I suffer the same fate.

Adblue topped up again today - 3.5 litres approximately. Will note down the mileage tomorrow then can again calculate an Adblue/mile consumption rate to compare with the above


Edit: 143842 miles.

Screen wash also topped up, consumption rate of that = not calculating at present!

143842-140098 = 3744 miles.

Quick maths I think that is 1069 miles per litre or 4856 miles per (adblue) gallon

So significantly greater consumption than last time's calculation (10165) but still consuming at a slower rate than the book figures suggest (3204 miles per adblue gallon)

Yeah I realized 3 hours later when driving on the m25 it was 405 I burst out laughing , the wife looked at me as if I was going mad , she asked if it was the motorway getting to me lol so I explained. She asked why Matt likes to take his garden for a drive , so I then went the route of it's revenge for being drove over , the soil high Jack's the car then drives over the drive way to get its revenge , the wife then came back saying the m25 had done my head in lol, 405 what a car , love em

Blue 308:

So, just had "a breakdown" !

Drove to work today, all fine. Home again, started fine. 37 miles home.
Stopped at Morrisons shop, 10 minutes and then restarted fine.
Stopped at Morrisons fuel station to fill up, paid and...


... nothing! Push the start button, dash lights up, glow plug light goes out and
Silence.

Actually near literally silence as blower and other interior sounds die away for fraction of a second. Presumably the point at which starter would kick into life. But it doesn't!

Tried a push start but not quite enough speed (kindly helped by the chap behind the fuel counter giving me a hand pushing!)

Moved away from the pumps and, parked.
Thankfully half a mile away at home, and not yet into the bedtime routine with the boys, Sarah came complete with jump leads and rigid towing bar.

Quick try with jump leads but no difference (as I suspected) so on with the towing bar and dragged home. Bump started on route and idles fine.

Multimeter check on battery terminals:

Running 14.1 volts.
Engine off 12.7 volts (dropping a little as literally just turned off)

Suggested alternator healthy and battery ok too.

I suspect the "battery protection module" - mentioned previously as possible cause of the "electrical fault" message a few months ago - but not seen for a good few weeks if not months recently - has chosen this moment to give up.

Car filled up with diesel ready for a little break at the weekend, but it'll be sat at home and the Grey 308 can take us instead.
