Yes, when I bought these - at least a decade ago - there was an "unarmoured" version, missing those three horizontal bars. I guess I saved myself a tiny amount of polishing there!

Working up the confidence to tackle the headlights, maybe tomorrow...

Ah good to know. I've got (40, 60, 80, 120, 240) 400, 800 - I think, 1200 and possibly some 2000 grit if memory serves. Bracketed variants included to complete the list rather headlamp attacking options, hopefully obviously!

Headlamp polishing deferred, plumbing job first.

Kitchen sink does not drain well.

Current low profile trap thought to be the culprit. A big depth of seal isn't needed (why will become apparent shortly)

The state of your waste pipe Matt!!! And I've never seen those low-profile traps although I do like the look of them... My favourite is a bottle trap*

As our shower, a "deluge" type is fairly water inefficient, in the past we had hot summers and sought to use a bit of garden greywater by the following "easy" method:
- have shower with the bath plug down.
- retrieve hosepipe (tied outside bathroom window)
- instigate syphon (quick 2 second holding end of hose over bath tap connection usually sufficiently filled hose to a level below bath water level hence setting off the symphonic action)
- empty bath 90% by keeping end of hose below surface.
- discharged water accumulated into a "spare" wheelie bin. About half a bin full per bath.
- following day: water plants /grass with watering can dunked into wheelie bin.

The weather over roughly the past decade hasn't needed the above solution repeat since! We've had some good weather early in the year - I do wonder if this year could get us into hosepipe bans and need of water conservation techniques once more???

I rate it. Interestingly there are a lot of Toolstation reviews suggesting poor sealing. Didn't have that issue with mine. Think it was bought long ago enough as to be before Toolstation had reviews!

The first step is realising you have a problem!

Still cementing around the pipe to do, but otherwise here is the finished job:

Down a bit, across a bit, then down some more = angled towards the grid

Happy with that, no leaks. Drains a bit faster

Grey 308 washed, no headlamp polishing as yet.need to look if I've any smoother wet and dry grades

Just to note: our 1929 house is old enough to have only "combined" sewers - no separate Surface Water provision, hence why kitchen roof's drainpipe and kitchen sink can be fed into the same gully.

Oh, and moment of (slight) euphoria from earlier:

This length of white pipe, I used for the bit passing through the wall. White matches the trap so when laid on the kitchen floor for whatever reason it is pleasing to the eye....

I was watching the always informative latest 'Harry's Farm' Youtube and he reckons his bit of Oxfordshire has had less rain this Spring than we had in the Spring of 1976...... not that that tells you much though. The Autumn / Spring total rainfalls for a lot of areas are worryingly down on averages at the moment though.
....and..... much more importantly and tellingly - the Oak was out before the Ash down here Disastrous !!
