Cheap 405 needing some work:
Facebook marketplace
Facebook marketplace
No link to seller, posh looking seats, generally looks well looking at the pictures.

Can't help but wonder how badly the gasket has gone - if seriously overheated (like my XUD9TE 306 must have done, ahead of my ownership) could be looking for a new head?

Identical colour to my second 405 although mine was a 1.9TD... They really are suburb cars... Among Peugeot's very finest along with the 205 and 306 :D

Not a classic yet but I seem to remember someone looking for one of these in the last few weeks? :-D

That is a worrying idea Gibbo, it fits in with the timing too but I'm not sure Bob would be able to add an extra day!! :-D

If you click through to the pictures of the instrument panel on that XM you will see that the tacho is showing tickover and the temp guage is off the scale.

I questioned the seller about that and this is the response I got:

the engine temp guage works from the top doen on those cars

Comments anyone? :-D

After challenging that statement, I got this back:

RING CITROEN IDONT KNOW I KNOW ITS NOT OVERHEATING

Won't be bidding on that then!! :-D

Those comments should be on the listing now!

If the dial goes straight to overheating then I'd have thought it's either a duff or shorted temp sensor or wiring ?

Clearly clueless.
Could at least have said that it showed no evidence of overheating and was probably a faulty sensor.

I wouldn't buy anything from him, nice as it looks.
