Diagbox versions

Unread post by mickthemaverick »

I have been running V7.62 ever since I got the kit but thought I'd update as Gibbo has been kind enough to send me his disks. I have worked through from 7.62 -7.66 - 7.74 -7.76 but when I double click the 7.76 to 7.83 update it asks me for a password!! I have checked with Gibbo but he has no knowledge of it so I was wondering if it is some form of password that is known or should I just settle for running 7.76 ? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Try
Passport : Maitresox01

Hint:
Updates higher than 7.62 are very rarely beneficial.
Very stable is 7.57.
The 7.83 update from "Simple" is only an APP update (old LEXIA 348) and makes no sense for the DB (newer vehicles).

7.57 - 7.62 is sufficient for PSA vehicles until the beginning of 2015.
and 7.82 until about autumn 2015 - only those who have to diagnose vehicles in this period should update to 7.82.

For newer vehicles up to 4/2022, software 9.125 - 9.129 is the better choice.

Greetings Wolfgang

Sorry to opening old thread, but I'd like to ask some q regarding diagbox:
I have Citroen C4 Picasso mk2 2016, I use diagbox 7.57, I have connection to car, but almost all ecu calling not recognised, but DTC are loaded in that ECUs -> should I update firmware to get better support for 2016 car? If so, to which one? I should have full chip (I bought it 6 years ago and used today for the first time so not 100% sure, but I remember I bought full).

Repetition:
For vehicles from 2015 onwards, DIAGBOX 9.xxx should be used with a suitable VCI for diagnostics.
Installation either natively or as a VM.

On thanks, so it means that doesn't matter which version of 9.xxx diagbox I'll use..
Q1: is any free version, or I need to pay to install it?
Q2: Is any way how to find out if my VCI is ok to use, or just to try?
Q3: I found many DTCs using diagbox 7.57, is good idea to start with clearing them all to see which will persist?
I'm sorry for too beginner questions, I'm trying to do my own research, but more and more questions arise.. :)

If the VCI worked perfectly with 7.57, there is a very good chance that it will also work with 9.xxx.
Ultimately, only trial and error will help.
There are an infinite number of versions of Diagbox 9.xxx.
Almost all of them claim to have been based on the original and this version was then activated.
In reality, there are only a few who can do this - e.g. ZitouneDiag59 or MrRorry - and they are French and not Chinese - the others just use their basis and ‘make up’ a few new features.
There are VM versions and native installations. The original versions are always native versions.
As a VM, 9.68 (goes until 2021) is probably recommended - this was activated by MrRorry and installed as a VM.
Native 9.85 has a good reputation.
There is free and paid diagnostic software.
Paid native original versions are offered by ‘ZitouneDiag59’ on various platforms.

Some of the installation instructions are in Spanish, but it can still be installed easily. There is a procedure on YouTube and then you can choose the language.
or

Here too, some explanations are in French, but it's easy to install. Also free version.
and 9.85 also free version , works best for my car .

Hi,
I've read that in order to be able to telecode anything in the car one needs to buy a token, is that so for all of the cars and 9.xx versions?
I have a 2017 C4 Picasso b78, but the carline itself is like from 2013 onwards, do I need to use 9.xx in order to get a good readout of the ecus, i.e. it only matters when the car was built,
but will be unable to code anything? Orrr can I use 7.82 or something like that to connect to my car, and be able to code?
Also is downgrading of VCI firmware safe? I can't remember right now but my fw matches 9.xx but would it be safe to go down to fw for 7.6x-8x or this is not necessary?
cheers
