Thanks, under the label is just the same small print in different languages. Lol.
I just did a search on Google for
"Transmission BV SAE 75W80"
And this was first in the list....
What is total BV transmission 75W80? Which presented the following:-
API GL-4+, PSA B71 2330
Total Transmission Gear 8 75W-80 Manual Gear Box Oil -1L (Replaces BV)
TOTAL TRANSMISSION GEAR 8 75W-80 is an oil specially designed for the lubrication of manual gearboxes of passenger cars. TOTAL TRANSMISSION GEAR 8 75W-80 is specially recommended for PSA manual gearboxes, with extended drain interval (250,000 km) and friction modifier additive adapted to PSA manual gearboxes.
So it looks like it may well be an older oil (than BV whatever that means) but shipped by Citroen to dealerships, at least I hope so as this is the one I have to use now.
Thank you for all your help.

BV just means Gearbox: (BVA - Automatic, BVM - Manual).

Thank you, car gone in today to have the seal between box and shaft replaced, given him the oil from Citroen - so it's up to the gearbox gods now. Thank you all for your help and advice.

Re: C4 B7 Semi-Automatic Gearbox Oil Specifications
Is it not after normal draining (for regular refill/Service Fill) 1.9L +-0.1L, after max drain/rebuilding (Dry Fill) +-0.2L?GiveMeABreak wrote: 26 Apr 2024, 12:14 You have an MC gearbox type, so according to my info it should be:
Quantity of oil to fill after draining: 2,1 ± 0,1 litres.
Quantity of oil to fill after an overhaul: 2,2 ± 0,1 litres.
Oil quality: 75W80.
I don't think you have the correct gearbox in your post above...
2L should suffice for refill I guess, it doesn't have to be exactly 2.1L, otherwise 100ml from old oil can be reused if I have only 2L new oil, a little old oil may help the gearbox to adapt to the oil change.
Full manual (BE4R/BE6/BVM6).
Semiauto (CMP6/EGS6/ETG6. MCP Mechanical Compact Piloted).
MCP uses less main gearbox oil because it needs space also for actuator, no?

Re: C4 B7 Semi-Automatic Gearbox Oil Specifications
No, completely wrong. The actuator system has zero to do with the gearbox oil. It is still a manual gearbox - all the actuators do is change the gears and the clutch actions and is separate from the gearbox.
The above quantities are correct and for avoidance of doubt, 'draining' just means letting it drip out, whereas 'overhaul' means disassembly of the gearbox, where the residual oil would also be lost, which is why it would require slightly more than for draining.
Actuator oil is a completely different oil contained elsewhere in the piloted actuator system.

Re: C4 B7 Semi-Automatic Gearbox Oil Specifications
You are right about total amount for refilling as it is confirmed by a C4 workshop repair manual. The actuator electro-hydraulics for gear shifting, not robo clutch, is mounted on the gearbox housing so I thought maybe that would make the gearbox a little smaller but it doesn't, it still takes 2.1L for service fill.
I have same car model and it is 12 years old but it still switches gears good, even when I double tap down or up on shiftpaddles. Maybe it's not necessary to change gearbox oil, it could be enough to just add 4% Mecarun P18 with a hose and pump through top mounted air vent filling hole inside engine bay. I will try that soon and notify about effects on an already good gearbox. I already added 4% to engine oil and the car feels smoother and less jerky.
Additive or gearbox oil change won't probably make it shift faster in EGS6 (but it can be faster in a full manual) because shifting timing is controlled by TCU and oil of shift-actuators (type S-CAM electrohydraulic Magneti Marelli) which is same oil as for robo clutch actuator but what they could do is improve vibrations, noise and slightly fuel efficiency during driving when the gear is already selected. To possibly make shifting per se faster in EGS6 the hydraulic oil could be changed or TCU reprogrammed.

Ok I made the simple DIY guide on how to top up with gearbox oil additive. The result is a remarkable improvement of how the car feels and sounds. You can read the guide here viewtopic.php?p=838929#p838929

I am also asking for my car. What type of Gearbox? And how to check the gearbox oil level?
