Part of the course runs along the top of a dam wall Steve and I've ran it in windy conditions in the past... It was like running in italics

Sadly, yesterday was a non-starter. I was due to run a 6 hour challenge event in Daventry but my ME decided it was not a good plan and refused to permit it. I woke up feeling dizzy, muzzy and generally awful Above all, driving with a head that felt like it had been on the beer all night (it feels like I'm very drunk) was totally out of the question. I spent a lot of time in bed and then some more with my girlfriend mutually moaning about life in general over a few coffees in our favourite café. I should at this point make clear I was alone in my bed

I'm a bit better today and have spent a good deal of time in another café with my parkrun friends... For me, a café is my pub and a coffee is my pint of beer...

As my intellect allows - it's not always up to it - I've been learning to use an image editor called GIMP. It's a bit like PhotoShop and can allegedly do most of what PhotoShop can but at zero cost, being open-source. I was staggered at how much Adobe want for PhotoShop and as yet, cannot justify it.

GIMP appears ferociously complex and powerful and for my challenged brain it's a slow process learning how to even scratch its surface...

My favourite subject has been providing good practice material for me

After making some delicate (crude?) adjustments in GIMP:

And, being a bit creative. I do rather like monochrome. This image was used to learn how to remove extraneous objects...

I absolutely love this particular picture

It's not perfect and I know my learning has a way to go yet. It's good for keeping the brain exercised and alive...

One thing GIMP won't do is process RAW images. At my level, that does not seem, prima-facie, a big problem. Maybe in future I'll understand it is...

I did plan a bit more work on Bluebell today but I'm really not up to it; better to rest and recover. I'm getting better at listening to what my body tells me. It's telling me to rest and that's what I'm doing

Ah yes, work installed GIMP for me as a substitute for no longer supported and hence "massive security risk" Microsoft Picture Manager but it was like substitution of Concorde from a previous paper airplane!

Shame about the run being ruined Jim. Photo's came out a treat though.

I dip into The Gimp occasionally but have to admit that it can be all a bit much sometimes. Give me a decent darkroom and enlarger and I'm happy.

Will probably need to use it for my passport/driving licence photo's.

It looks as if my running and cycling career may be coming to an end at its current level so I'll be looking at other occupations; traditional photography could well be one of them

Yep, compared to the standard Microsoft offerings, that's a great analogy Matt! That said, for 'quick and dirty' the latest iteration of Photos under Win 11 is not too bad...

When I got back from a trip out this morning I found this on the back of my Picasso:



Strawberry was parked nearby and was not similarly leafleted... I was quite offended they didn't consider an AX worthy

I normally get leaflets on mine normally saying , please can you break down else where !
