Some just have a blind, but some, like the C3 Aircross that have both electric blind and a large roof.

Re: PureTech 180 (C5 Aircross) - Real fuel consumption vs board computer
Zakazak said the difference was closing the fabric lid, which I presume is a sliding blind. His car is also a C5 Aircross, not a C3, although I have no idea what difference that makes.

Yes, but as he said he gets worse fuel consumption in the summer - one has to assume he has the roof open in the summer.... An internal blind alone isn't going to make any difference.

I take it that that's exactly what he's saying. Just the blind makes all the difference.

Re: PureTech 180 (C5 Aircross) - Real fuel consumption vs board computer
I am not talking about the roof being open. I am talking about the fabric cover.
Air conditioning is on all year (summer and winter).
The panoramic roof is closed all year (summer and winter).
How ever, the fabric cover was not closed (this essentially nullifies the effect of the panoramic window and also the panoramic glass is already tainted).
Still, closing the fabric cover reduces the fuel consumption by about 0,5-1,0L during the summer.
That is huge effect and definitely not expected or known for many people.

Re: PureTech 180 (C5 Aircross) - Real fuel consumption vs board computer
The only scientific difference I can see a roof blind will make to the fuel economy is very simply because it will block out more sunlight (heat) and therefore the A/C and Climate control has to work less to maintain the cabin temperature. No other reason as a blind has zero impact on drag, being that it's internal.

What I thought might be the reason from the word go.

Hi.
Newbie here resurrecting this thread.
I have just bought a 2021 C5 Aircross 1.5 Diesel with Eco and Sport mode.
I get the intention of these controls, but what do they actually do in practice. Hold gears for longer in Sport mode for instance...?
I was surprised to read the poster above reporting worse consumption figures in Eco mode...!

Re: PureTech 180 (C5 Aircross) - Real fuel consumption vs board computer
Depending on engine, from your manual:
Eco
Reduces energy consumption by restricting the performance of the heating and air conditioning systems, although it does not deactivate them.
Normal
Restores the vehicle’s original settings.
Sport
Enables more dynamic driving with action on the power steering, accelerator and gear changes (with an automatic gearbox).
Depending on version, with an EAT8 gearbox and the selector in position D (except Sport mode), fully releasing the accelerator pedal allows free-wheeling which can save fuel.
A drop in engine speed is normal (rev counter at idle, drop in engine noise).

Re: PureTech 180 (C5 Aircross) - Real fuel consumption vs board computer
Thanks Marc, great info.
It didn't come with a handbook, so I'm flying blind at the moment. I called a UK dealer (I live in France) today and he quoted me £30 for a new handbook.
He also told me to download an app called "scanmycitroen" from where I could download the owners manual. I did, but the app won't allow me to enter any vehicle details, so not much help.
I've changed my location between UK and France, still nothing happening.
There's loads more questions, but I'll order the book and wait til it arrives to solve a few more questions on the forum.
Thanks again...

You can see/print/download a handbook through this topic so no need to pay anyone viewtopic.php?t=63208

Hi PaulC5
Thanks very much for that link, I've downloaded my manual pending the purchase of the book from my Citroen dealer. I like to have a hard copy to read as well as a PDF.
Cheers
Graham
