Ds5 diagnostic machine
Could anyone tell me what exactly is this digital thing that can diagnose issues? Is it some sort of diagnostic testing machine that can only test french cars

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
Well the official diagnostic interface is the Lexia 3 together with the program Diagbox.
Many of the more expensive Android-based multi-brand diagnostic tools will probably work with DS5 too, but you might get limited funtionality.
Bought a Lexia 3 clone myself not long ago for Peugeot 508, and while the interface is a bit daunting it can do the most out of any tool on the market.
There's also the peace of mind it utilizes the official Diagbox software rather than some generic Android interface designed for a wider market.

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
Thanks for that muir I had a quick look in the boot today to see if I could find the control unit for the reverse sensor's because I don't get anything on the screen when I select reverse gear but I take it it's actually hidden behind the panel and I will have to look how it's removed but I bought a Launch diagnostic machine some time ago and will see tomorrow if it will show me anything about the reverse sensors and camera hopefully and I will look to see more information about the Lexia 3 clone if it's not too expensive. Thanks again peter

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
You're welcome, hope you can garner some info with the Launch tool.
If not the Lexia3 clone along with Diagbox will only set you back some 90ish pounds/125 dollars.
Have not used mine extensively past resetting engine oil counters and scanning for DTCs but it has worked flawlessly those 4-5 times.

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
Hi Muir, which Lexia 3 are you using for your 508? And which diagbox, version?

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
Hi I don't have a 508 I have a 2012 Citroen DS5 hybrid which I have just bought and the snow is preventing me from doing anything at the moment but I was looking for any information about the reversing sensors because mine doesn't work at all but I have discovered that if one or more of the sensor's has gone the whole thing will shut down so I need to discover what the problem is with it and hoping the Launch diagnostic tool I have can show me anything?

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
Can't speak for launch, but Diagbox would show you which (if any) sensors are faulty or if there is a wiring issue or the ECU itself. The most common issues are a faulty sensor, water ingress from the sensor wiring getting into the back of the sensor, a liquid spillage from the boot area onto the Parking ECU (if this is stored like some models have, by the spare wheel cavity).

I have had a look for this diagbox but because I don't know anything about it I wouldn't know what to get and what to do with it ? And yes your right my Launch tool doesn't show anything to do with reverse sensors and I don't have a spare wheel it should have a pump in the boot but it's missing probably the dealer I bought the car from took it out to sell and I didn't check it

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
Ok, so on a 2012 DS5, the parking assistance ECU is located in the rear left wing boot cavity area, so you can probably rule out water ingress from spillages - but maybe worht checking in there to see if stowing away anything has trapped or damaged a wire in the harness or the connector - doesn't cost anything to check this first:

Ok than you but I don't suppose you could tell me how to get the cover panel off ? I have taken 2 plastic plugs off but it's still secure and I can't see anymore plugs or screws. Peter

I bought this particular Lexia:

(The rightmost option - full chip with clip)
Am using it with Diagbox 9.85, also bought on Ali.

Re: Ds5 diagnostic machine
Not sure if you reply was for Marc or myself but in regards to Lexia & Diagbox.
Diagbox can be a bit heavy to navigate if you're new to diagnostic tools, but once you get the hang of the layout it's priceless to have if you aim to keep your car.
Most brand-specific dealer/workshop tools are aimed at techies using them every day so the interface can present a steep learning curve.
