Which reminds me to ask if you know of a source for the V6 caliper slide pins and seals? I couldn't locate them anywhere last time I looked.

Nor any of mine, or any conventional cars I've had. Surely driving normally puts more force through the components anyway.

I got mine a couple of years ago from Bigg Red in the Uk....the slider pins came in the caliper rebuild kit..... from their site that does not seem to be the case now.xantia_v6 wrote: 10 Dec 2024, 19:14 Which reminds me to ask if you know of a source for the V6 caliper slide pins and seals? 100% Husky
Next job is to pull the heat deflector from under the car and check the handbrake cable divider is "balanced" and then set the HB.
After that strip off all the intake/turbo pipes etc to change the cam cover gasket which has decided to leak.....every job leads to another, esp after an MoT pass
.............. I may be able to drive this bloody thing one day

Wow! That fractured slider pin was a surprise! Never seen or heard of that before.
I usually tap an Allen bit into place, helps to ensure it's fully engaged, think the jolts also help "wake up" the bolt and seems less likely to fight back
I wonder if that one had been in and out with a windy gun? Or just a flaw in it from new. Very strange.

Re: Xantia 1.9TD....wake up and back on the road after 10 Years
Well the old clunker has left the garage....brakes etc all back together.
A shortish test drive gave no problems.....a longer one tomorrow to ascertain if the r/s caliper has stopped binding.
Cam cover gasket next to stop the oil dripping.......then check the cables for the heater. If it is not the cables then maybe the heater matrix is clogged ?? ....and we all know how much of a PITA that is to sort out/change !

Oh yes the mega flush ,when i got my mk2 , it was clogged good and proper. As i recall over an hour of the hose pipe running i flushed parts other hoses couldnt reach before , when that dirty brownish gunk turned clear was i happy . Pipes off rad out matrix out , pipes here clips there . Once all done i felt confident the cooling system would work better then it ever did , what a difference, The former owner left the car in the hands of the local garage for years , service , mot , repairs .. no way had that car been serviced.

Re: Xantia 1.9TD....wake up and back on the road after 10 Years
Keys, remote etc....the key I have with the car (two button) does not work (I think)
I have done the phone camera trick....the red LED works but there is no "flash" from the clear/IR LED. This is true for both buttons, yes/red LED....but no flash
The found one does flash & red LED but is a single button key....is the "found" one a S2 car's key ?
Thoughts ?
Any one got a S1 two button key they do not need with a good rubber pad ?
China, are the keys (£1.50 ish) worth getting ?

The single button key will be from a non-uk car, but maybe your car will accept it.
The faulty 2 button key fob likely just needs the chips re soldering.

I purchased the china cheapy 3 yr ago for a 206 , used for spare , coded ok , cut ok & did the job, tbh the quality of the key wasnt to bad. For the price its worth a try.

Cheers on the key.....going to splash the cash on one, need to budget for the £2.50 + free shipping !
Been shopping in the Sinker this morning, no problems other than the heater being shi#.........I would add, the car maintains a good steady temp when running and has just had a new water pump fitted (and cam belt) so it cannot be the thermostat.
