Re: Strange blackout
Hopefully Citroen software engineers, don't claim this as the reason of operating system crash.

Re: Strange blackout
I wouldn't be surprised - people tend to blame these phenomena on just about anything!

I'm afraid if they read this, that we gave in Citroen without our will an idea! We ripped the thread..

Re: Strange blackout
Chased the dealer about the required update yesterday. They responded that they are still waiting for Citroen technical to come up with something. They also have other vehicles waiting for the same update.

Re: Strange blackout
No, a completely different vehicle from the ground up (not a facelift) and shares nothing with the previous model.the2ems wrote: 30 Oct 2024, 18:07GiveMeABreak wrote: 30 Oct 2024, 16:58 I agree, but unfortunately it's the early adopters of new models that tend to be the Guinea pigs!![]()
Not really a new model though is it, I don’t really know. I assumed it was just an adaptation of a normal C4

Re: Strange blackout
I had the same issue on a new Citroen C4 (2024).
While stopped at the lights, the car shut down completely and rebooted. I went to the dealer, they were not able to read an error, but they performed a software update.
After driving another 200km, the complete blackout appeared again today while the car was moving. It came back on after 5 seconds on its own. I think the engine did not turn off as I was able to turn the steering wheel during the blackout. This time the multimedia system showed an error that a service is required. However, after shutting off and restarting the car, the error disappeared.
I am going to the dealer again to check.
It is so annoying that one pays so much for all these security features that modern cars have (and especially in a highest priced model), but these blackouts are completely unpredictable and they disable all security features for some time.

Re: Strange blackout
Hi
Have you tried the fix in
https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-19980.html
I have an Citroen EC4 2024 and was having the same issue, after reading the above I changed my radio station to a different DAB channel (from a DAB BBC channel) and then to a local FM station. I mostly play mp3's from a USB drive anyway but as soon as I made this change the rebooting of the infotainment and main screen seems to have stopped happening.
Regards

Re: Strange blackout
A 2024 vehicle will not have the same system as a 2015 vehicle. In 2025 SMEG systems (in various iterations) were fitted. The link shows firmware for a SMEG+ IV2 system but the problem also afflicted SMEG+ systems and the cure was an update of the firmware.
In summary, it may be the same problem on a different system but it's strange that it's just occurred when the reason has been known about for quite a few years. If it's a 2024 vehicle it'll still be under warranty so I would get it straight back to dealer. Let us know how that goes.

As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Re: Strange blackout
Mine has been back to the dealer. In fact they had it for a week last November, and decided it needed a software update, which hasn’t even been developed by Citroen.Paul-R wrote: 25 Apr 2025, 10:58 A 2024 vehicle will not have the same system as a 2015 vehicle. The dealer performed another update. Since then I had no issues during the last 7-8 months.
The dealer suggested that the reboot happened because the system was trying to update itself automatically (while driving), but the signal reception was unexpectedly lost. They said that if the reboot happens again, then according to instructions given by Citroen, they will replace the antenna.
