Strange blackout

Just had a weird occurrence. I was coming to the end of a 30 mile round trip, when suddenly, without warning, the touch screen and dash/heads up display, all went off. It didn’t affect the driving. It all booted up again after a few seconds. But not instant pop, and all back on. It was a proper boot up. Possibly slower than when I start the car from cold. Everything seems fine now. Has this happened to anyone else?

It happened to me only yesterday in the X7. I had just started the engine and was manoeuvring out of a car park when the radio suddenly went silent and I realised the RT6 unit had rebooted. It's been a while (years?) since this last happened and I just accept it.

It has happened on the SMEG+ unit in our 308 as well although not for a few years.

And you're right, it seemed to take longer than the normal boot-up from cold!

Get it back to the dealer - it very likely needs a software update / check. If the Head Unit is overheating it will generally reduce the volume of any audio in the first place, but if this is not the cause, then it's a problem. There should be a log stored in the unit that they will be able to retrieve at the dealership.

It happened to me 3 times since i got my car. My dealer told me that's probably caused by software updates, since my software was up to date when my car was in the garage.
However, my software version is the same since day 1, even after several OTA updates.

Just phoned the dealer, and I have to take it in for diagnostics. If it isn’t a manufacturing fault, I have to pay. And I have to leave it all day. What a blinking ball ache

In for diagnostics today. Just phoned them, and they confirm that the car has the latest software, but is also showing a software update. But after 3 attempts, they have been unable to install said update. They are currently waiting for a response from Citroen

I bet that's the IVI system??? Full of faults at the moment - members here internationally with these things causing problems...

Essentially you're all undertaking R&D for them in the real world!

So the dealer have been in touch today. Citroen technical have done their bit , and have now passed the issue on to another department . They have requested that the dealer do some more testing. Meanwhile I’m driving round in a courtesy car, C5 Aircross.

Thanks for the update, so let us know, but this IVI system does seem plagued with software bugs.

Just had a call from the dealer. They have completed the tests that the technical guys requested, and have had confirmation that the car requires an update, but they don’t have one at the moment. So I can have the car back, and just wait for the dealer to get back to me when they are in a position to install the illusive update. Whenever that may be . Not very good on a car that is 15 months old

I agree, but unfortunately it's the early adopters of new models that tend to be the Guinea pigs!
