Hello,

First of all, Thank you so much for this thread which helped me understand my issue.

I did this fix on my Citroen C4 II (2014).

I proceeded with the sd-card change and used the 2.86 CD update.
Unfortunately, the update went wrong somehow. I have now a Peugot welcome screen and some button seems to be mixed up and no access to the setup.

I could not run the mirascirpt on my car, I tried many time but never booted up. Probably because it was rebooting non-stop.

Did anyone encounter such issue ?
Does anyone have a mirascript saved of the same model car (French/English) ?

Best,
Red

Hi, unfortunately this can be the case depending on the original firmware version installed and your vehicle's electrical system as to whether this goes without issue or not, but more so as you weren't able to backup your user data files before hand.

In this situation, your RT6 has defaulted back to factory settings and configuration, and the ECU will be in secure mode, so can't be configured using Diagbox without internet connected mode and an account.

Your best bet at this stage is to get the dealer to install it as if they were installing a new RT6 unit, so that the configuration is done via internet. That should restore factory options to those on your vehicle.

Hello board

Long story short, i found this forum as the screen in my RCZ went blank and i lost the radio as well. A few mechanics couldn't find any faults but eventually I found a very savvy one that told me the SD card could have failed.

My plan of action was to use data recovery and clone/ write a dsk image of the SD and copy it to a new one and just install it back into the radio. I examined the original SD file on the computer as it seems to be working fine?

Context, my problems started after getting a new battery install at Halfords. The problem with the screen and radio started after this. Also my MPH display is now in KMH. I have tested all the fuses in the car, the motherboard of the radio, everything is working fine so my last option was the SD card. Now, I have no idea how to code or anything so I have a few questions please.

Has my act of checking out the card on the laptop rendered it useless? Will I be able to install a new blank sd card into the car and use the USB to install new firmware despite having no display? Also where can I find the firmware, it was 2.80 as stated on the radio. Google isnt being my friend on the matter.

Thank you for your help, this experience has been quite frustrating to say the least.

Edit: added pic of radio and read through this mammoth thread. I still have a glimmer of hope but wow I think am f#@&ed 😭

Hello,

I took the car to the dealership. They managed to fix it and realigned the software back to my Citroen model (cost me 160euro)
It's been a couple of days and everything seems back to normal and functioning.
However, the map disappeared. I could fix it myself but it will cost around 100euro to order the update.

All in all I spent around 250euro.
Replacing the RT6 at the dealership would have cost 1000euro, or maybe more ...

So many thanks to manage this thread and keep it up to date. You helped a lot of people into taking the matter into their own hand and fixing it themselves. Me included :)

Cheers !

Regarding maps. I will send you a private message shortly.

Hi

Once you insert the MicroSD card into a windows PC it will write hidden / system files to the card - not a good idea. The Head units use a special variation of UNIX-based automotive software. Further, if you attempt to clone the MocroSD card, and it has issues with file corruption, you will just be cloning the problem to the new card....

First, avoid Halfords for anything - they most likely don't have the training on how to work on modern electrical systems and specifically the routines required when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Have you already attempted to install firmware yourself? This sound like somebody has already attempted a firmware upgrade and this has reset the RT6 to factory defaults - i.e. unconfigured.

You can try a BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure first, which won't cost anything except time and patience.

Failing that there's little you can do without a display, as you can't update the firmware without replying to options. Also you won't be able to back up your user data / configuration at this point without a functioning screen using the Part A Mirascripts in my guide.

I'm not sure where you go with this now as your options are extremely limited without a display. Did this happen immediately after you had the car back from Halfords or since? If the screen was blank after picking it up, I would be blaming something they have done or not done.... Too much of a coincidence.

I would suggest a Diagnostic with Diagbox to see what that says about any faults or comms issues with the head unit or display.

Hi, yes this has to be expected - you have basically removed all these when the card was partitioned and the operating system was installed (the same as if you put a new HDD into a computer) - you don't retain the data.

You will have to locate your original map download / purchase, or re-purchase them - we don't supply chargeable maps here on this Forum for obvious reasons.

I've moved your post to this thread as it's more relevant.

There should be no reason if you follow the guide properly why you can't install the firmware. When you boot the RT6 with the firmware correctly extracted tot he USB, it will attempt to initialise and install the operating system.

However, if you unit has other problems internally, then it won't make any difference - you'll need to investigate further or replace it..
