speedometer.

Unread post by adiopeto »

Guys, I need your help. I recently changed tyers on my Citroen c5 2006 phase II. Now my speedometer shows me a 15kmph lower read. (When going 50 it shows 35+-2kmph. If anyone knows how to recalibrate, even better if there is such video I would bee amazingly great full. Thanks prematurely...

Turn off the engine and post a picture of your dashboard. I guess your needle is under 0. Thats why get Speedcontrol Pictures 😉

Needle should be on the first line under 10.

so that is mechanical issue. no need to recalibrate something....and it has nothing to do with tire change 😉.

Disassembly the speedometer unit and check the needle. My needle was cracked. I used small shrinking tube and mount the needle back to the Motor. I dont use glue.

Good luck!

Did you notice the issue immediately after having the tyres replaced?

When checking if the needle is at 0 mph, do it with the ignition switched on but without the engine running so only lit up. Our 2007 C5 needle spindle had cracked so the needle was loose and I used a wood glue (all I had that was a bit runny) to stick it back with the ignition on and engine not running so I could set it at 0 mph. Then let it dry before starting the engine. This was many years ago and the speedo is still ok.

1st for the speedometer I can't say if it was like that imidietly after changing tyers because I started driving the submarine like 4 to 6 mounths after the tyer change (it was done march 2024 I started in july2024). Now that I think about it , during the spring break, (April) I drove it for a cople of days and it was already at -15kmph. So I belive yes , imidietly after tyer swap, but I have to ask my dad if it was like this before. As for the needle beeng below the 0 whit the ignition on and engine off. Yes, it still stay below the 0.

Definitly it has nothing with tires FOR SURE !
It's a mechanical problem, agree with C5000 .
I solved this problem using only a little teflon tape on the axle of the motor and put the niddle.(mine was not briken, only loose)
Than turn the niddle on the line under 10. Put the conectors and drive witn the cruse control to check the corectness of the position of the niddle ant to correct if needed.
