Re: One for the Air Buffs
I have to say I'm not a bus fan but WW2 aircraft is right up my street!! My fav being EP120 AEA Spit Mk5 with clipped wings, although it wasn't originally a clipped wing, it's the owners choice.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: One for the Air Buffs
Of course! There is plenty of scope to fill the thread up with a bit of content and an easy subject to join in with. If it lulls I'll even bring in Shag Eckford and his signature on the board at White Hart at Brasted into the fold.

Re: One for the Air Buffs
The video of that plane was good, the following video of idiots at work trapped me.

Re: One for the Air Buffs
I used to volunteer at Duxford doing restoration as a young man. So I was lucky enough to get to sit in all the WW2 aircraft. Everything from the Tigercat to the Spits, Mustangs etc, even got to sit in the Russian Hind helicopter, wow that's a sickly shade of green in the cockpit. Also I used to do the food in the pilots enclosure during flying legends so meet alot of pilots and got to go in alot of aircraft

Re: One for the Air Buffs
Is it the Concorde at Duxford that still has, allegedly, Brian Trubshaw's hat trapped in the expansion joint?

Re: One for the Air Buffs
All I can tell you about that Concorde at Duxford is iirc that it was never a passenger plane. It was for testing and they put seats in back to show what it would of looked like with seats so museum goes could see it with seats.

Re: One for the Air Buffs
I've definitely seen the cap wedged but I've seen three Concordes in preservation and I can't remember which one it was!!

Re: One for the Air Buffs
I'm pretty certain it's not the one at Duxford, I would of remembered that, like the first time you see a Fairey Gannett, unforgettable

OK, then I'll plump for the Brooklands one and check it out next time I'm down there!

Re: One for the Air Buffs
The guys at Duxford used to play games with the planes, it was usually welly boots with a bit of overalls sticking out of a jet engine etc just to see confused museum goers faces. Maybe that's the type of thing you saw.
