Long round trip.

Unread post by Pete i »

Hello all.

I have just got back from a round trip of 1200 miles in my 21 reg Citroen C4 Spacesaver. No problems and it is a very comfortable car. My only crib is the Michelin tyres that do seem to be quite noisy. It has the 1.5 blue diesel engine with 26,000 on it which performed without a hitch. It isn't due a service until May next year although I wont have done the mileage by then. It was an ex mobility vehicle before I bought it so, presumably, has been well maintained until my purchase.

Anyway my question is:- Are there any foibles or problems that I have to look out for with this engine or the car in general?

Not much I can say about the C4 as I have a C5 however I have recently changed my worn Michelins for a set of FALKEN ZIEX ZE310 ECORUN and the difference in noise levels is night and day. The Falkens are incredibly quiet (in an already very quiet car) and I'll stick with them in the future. The only downside (I have read) is that they come with 7mm tread depth instead of a normal 8mm.

The only thing I can think of is the troubles with some 1.5Hdi's with a 7mm timing chain. See these posts

You might be able to rule in or out a possible problem with your engine.
