Citroen relay fuses
Hi. My relay wouldn't start last week, when the starter engaged there was a click and it went dead, no ignition lights. I called the AA. Thought about a bottle of whisky, but that's the other AA lol. The patrol van dul arrived, did a bit of fault finding including looking at the battery under the passenger footwell. Under there is a fuse box I never knew about. There is a mega fuse, which was blown. This is as the name suggests a big fuse of 150w. The AA man replaced this, he had a 150wone in his van, and service resumed on my van. He did say that this rating of fuse did not seem big enough. Fast forward to today, turned key, click,no ignition lights. First question, does anyone know what rating this fuse should be before I go get one? Second question, why would this fuse blow twice in a few days on a van that has had no gremlins with starting over the last 10 months? The van was cold and had not been ran for about a week the first time, it was warmed up and been ran and started a few times today. Thanks in advance, Davie

Re: Citroen relay fuses
First thing that springs to mind would be the starter starting to seize if its blowing it just as you start cranking. I have known these mega fuses to pop after accidentally trying to start the van in gear.
Not sure of the rating off hand & cant look it up just now. Is it the orange one thats marked CAL 4?

Re: Citroen relay fuses
It was an orange one which failed and the aa man put in an orange one. I do not know what was written on it. I can't look at the moment, the van is abandoned at a friend's house, I will go look at it in the next couple of days. I have a hospital appointment tomorrow which is more important than an old camper.wheeler wrote: 30 Jan 2024, 20:09 First thing that springs to mind would be the starter starting to seize if its blowing it just as you start cranking. Re: Citroen relay fuses
Easiest way is to use a test lamp or volt meter on either side of it, If one side lights up/shows voltage & the other side doesent then the fuse is blown.
