LEXIA woes.

Unread post by Xantianut »

Ay up!

I have ABS problems! However, when I tried to use my LEXIA to figure out the problem, LEXIA threw a tantrum and would not work. This is when I discovered that the laptop had deleted all the files that worked the interwebby thing!

I have tried reinstalling Windows 7 but it refuses to recognise the wireless card. I've bought new LEXIA software but can't authorise it. I've tried a dongle and installed the software that came with that. No dice. LEXIA will not, load on Win 10.

The computer is in serious danger of feeling the underside of my BIG hammer.

Can anyone help?

Please?

I'd Like Otterchops on the road, not decorating the drive!

As I have recently learned, late versions of Diagbox (PP2000 & Lexia) will run on 64 bit Windows, but I am guessing that your version of Lexia, like mine, will only run on 32 bit Windows.

Presumably your copy of Windows 7 was 32 bit, and the Windows 10 that you have installed is 64 bit. You can check this as follows:

1) Open Windows Explorer (now called File Explorer - press Window key & E)
2) Right click on "This PC" (which will be close to the bottom of the list of folders etc. in the LH column)
3) Select "Properties" - this should bring up "System > About"
4) Under "Device specifications" you should find "System type" which will tell you whether you have a 32 or 64 bit OS.

The modern way of resolving this is to run a copy of 32 bit Windows in a virtual machine. I have held onto an old laptop which has Windows XP (32 bit) installed. It just runs Lexia & PP2000, and never goes on the Internet, so has no need of anti-virus software, and there is no risk of my copies of "the software" trying to update themselves from PSA/Stellantis servers and getting clobbered.

Marc (& others no doubt) will explain where you can get the modern stuff...

I had that virtual machine set up on my Windows 10 64bit laptop, came from Jim at easydiagnostics.

I,did find my old Toshiba laptop which it did run on. Bad news? Ol' Tosh will not run without a working battery. £12 I,reckon for a new one is reasonable!!

Onwards and upwards.

My battery's not much chop either - don't you have a long extension cord? Mind you, 12 quid for a laptop battery sounds OK!!

Why do you need your Lexia/Diagbox PC to talk to your phone?

Note that at least XP does not support WPA2 wifi encryption out-of-box, this could be your problem.

I just re-installed my Lexia software on a Win 10 - after Jim said it could be done - and it works fine. I didn't go beyond V 7.52, however.

The terms LEXIA and DIAGBOX are always mixed up. The good old LEXIA 345 with the latest update 348 can only be unlocked/activated on XP with the corresponding programme and works with vehicles up to approx. 2009. For Peugeot there is the PP2000. It is a 16-bit system.

Many people talk about the LEXIA although they mean Diagbox.
The Diagbox up to 7.xx contains the software for newer Citroen and Peugeot vehicles and additionally the LEXIA 348 + modifications and the PP2000 for older Citroen/Peugeot.

To make full use of this, a 32-bit system containing 16-bit is required, e.g. XP or WIN7 32-bit - WIN 10 32-bit is of course not possible. And of course only Pro versions.
The Diagbox is not a 16-bit diagnostic tool, but a 32-bit system. If you install the Diagbox 7.xx on a 64-bit system - which contains 32 bits - then the Diagbox will of course work for newer vehicles, but not for the old LEXIA/PLANET. If you only need to read out newer vehicles from 2008 onwards or vehicles not set up by PSA on DIAGBOX (e.g. C6...), you can of course install on WIN10 64 bit.

As of 9.25, PSA has converted the entire diagnostic software to a 32-bit system, so that both the newer cars (Diagbox) and the old boxes with WIN 10 or 11 64 bit can be diagnosed.

And they are all offline systems - nothing works online with the PSA hotline.

Greetings Wolfgang
