I have always liked it as well Jim.....other side to do today....much the same work will be needed. One good thing (grabbing at anything positive in desperation ) that the feathering/rust on the seal edges is slightly less on that side.

Re: I am an Activaist-v6, a AX'er & another Activer'er (2ltr)
All done now.
I treated and painted the right side in the same way as the left.
Opened the seams with a thin screwdriver, used a thin scrapper blade to aid the capillary action to get the rust killer liquid in, filled those seams with ACF50, wiped off excess, painted with zinc primer, gray primer, Satin black to finish as a Mk1 type "flying roof......... filled the window seals with Bilt&Hamber S50 box section wax (thin) , used finger pressure to close up/tighten the seals, applied B&H S50 to the seams and then fitted the seals. Cleaned up the S50 that was pushed out with petrol on a rag.

Bilt & Hamber Fall-Out remover.
Double bubble cleaning also completed.
Each speck is a tiny particle of metal from the grinding/sanding I did on the window seams....always amuses me just how much "dust" it makes and how far it travels in the air. It ruins paint and glass and is best removed. This was AFTER a jet wash !....it sticks like glue to paint/glass as it corrodes and you really cannot see it as it is so miniscule.Double bubble cleaning also completed.

(I've next to no detailer type qualities!) is that "fallout" the sort of thing that "claying" the paintwork lifts?

No, it is a liquid spray, it activates ferrous metals, lifts them and allows it to be washed away.....also used to clear brake dust etc.
Clay Bars are used (only after a VERY good wash down or two and rinse) to cleanse the surface of micro contaminants by trapping them in the fine clay as it is moved over the surface (wetted with water). The results of a good clay bar application are remarkable and are imperative before a machine "cut & polish".

Re: I am an Activaist-v6 and a 2.1Estateerr
Gu@@er !... I have done it again !
Added "Old School" to the fleet. 1993 "sinker" Xantia 1.9td Lx.
.....not moved for 10 years, well it does now !
A few basic checks, topped up with water and with jump start cables attached away she went with almost everything found to be in working order. Rust-free so far in the normal spots..
Runs smooth (for a dirtyD), raises and lowers with speed, no leaks from Oil/Water/Suspension (yet )....even the spheres are good !
Sinkers are quite rare old things now. It was owned by a ex MOD engineer so has been quite well looked after mechanically.
A small "scrape on the front right wing and a little "clip" to the leading edge of the rear (side) bumper at the wheel arch....both "fixable"
More to follow when I get it back to my place in a few weeks time....and YES, it is going to be DRIVEN out of its resting place and home AS IS !.........just for the fun of it
