Picasso diesel economy?
Evening all, My C3 Picasso HDI 110 exclusive seems to return around 45 mpg no matter how it is driven, mechanically it is all tip top, new filters, belts oil, coolant, the brakes are not binding nor the tyres soft, it runs nicely and pulls strongly apart from an occasional stutter when pulling WOT on sliproads etc, I see other folk reporting 60 mpg and even more ideas anyone?

If the trip computer is on 6214 miles it needs resetting by holding in the button on the end of the wiper stalk. Once it gets to this (9999km) it can not go higher so any values do not mean anything. If not this then reset it before trips and note the type of driving - hills, speeds, short, long trips, etc to see if it makes any difference.

What is "WOT"?Stewart(oily) wrote: 22 Aug 2024, 21:17... apart from an occasional stutter when pulling WOT on sliproads etc...

Wide open throttle...
Those that report high MPG only drive where it is flat, and slowly at that!

Maybe I should...
All I know is that on a trip I get about 50 miles to the bar on the fuel gauge...

Re: Picasso diesel economy?
Problem solved as far as the average MPG display, I habitually reset the trip on the dashboard button when I fuel up, following advice here I reset the other trip meter using the button on the wiper stalk, it was reading 1800 odd miles, I reset that to zero and it immediately started to recalculate the average based on the new distance since reset, a far smaller sample size, now for the other issue, I have only experienced it a few times, in each case the engine was at full operating temp and was at full throttle in third gear around 3000 rpm when there is almost a bang, as if the ignition was momentarily turned off for a split second, it then carries on as if nothing has happened, methinks a bit of quiet road and a few runs to see if I can get nearer the redline (not something I do habitually)

That's a very odd problem... That indeed does need a bit of testing...

Pleased the fuel consumption issue is now resolved
Thinking on, is there any stored fault codes that might account for the 'almost bang' problem?

Update, the bang happens at just over 3000 rpm for a split second! I plugged in the code reader (Launch CRP 123E) and got the codes P1446 additive fault that I know about and P1536 concerning brake pedal sensors, this is a bit of a mystery.

Thank you Paul C5, on at least one of the times that the mystery event happened the cruise control stopped working, no coincidence I think, the cruise control works again after a restart, new brake switch on its way, I will report back once fitted.
