This is the ECU on the gearbox Actuator - so check the connection (especially pin 1) as mentioned.

I solved a this issue. There was a burned wire connector.
Thanks!

linny wrote: 05 Apr 2021, 12:14 apologies if this is in the wrong section we have had the car 5 months all fine and than it came up with gearbox fault no drive and had to be recovered home .i noticed gear box reservoir was lower than bottom mark so i toped up with the proper fluid. after looking at many posts on here a i have checked fuses connections on gear box ecu etc the latter was a bit mankey so cleaned up and put dielectric grease on . no joy so i got my mechanic friend to try and sort it with his snap on scanner . it came up with low pressure he tried to sort it but the car went in to economy mode and than he lost connection it did this many times and after this he got cheesed off with it. he has tried a few more times after work to repressurized but to no avail is there a correct procedure to do this .do i buy a lexia and try my self as he i doing my me a favour and its no fair on me to keep asking for him to help me out although i have offered to pay him for his time etc thanks for reading
Did you get sorted
I have the exact same issue...

We now have the same issue.
Could anyone please have some idea!
Couple days ago gearbox faulty message come up.
Got car home.
Lost A while driving. Stopped and could not select R or A1. Car cooled down and was working.
Tested with diagbox and found P1724 fault and P0868.
Cleared faults, went for ride and only P1724 come back

Tested solenoid by disconnecting socket and found that the bottom one at fault.
Mechanic come over. Checked with mag tool, the same fault.
Replaced actuator and solenoids, took my ecu.
When started programming car gone in economy mode and programming stopped.
Mechanic added another battery and jump pack as believed that car battery is low. Since then not able to perform depressure test, bleeding or programming.
Tried with diagbox, no faults while doing depressure test or bleeding, but coming up with fault when trying to programm the gearbox.
How to get it working again.

When mechanic started programming with his mag toll, we could hear gearbox switching the gears, but now nothing.

Long shot but maybe you know someone in Hampshire to be able to help or we could call?
Thanks.

That's a big mistake - attempting a configuration or programming operation without ensuring the battery is connected to another power source. It has now likely to have left the ECU unconfigured as can be seen above - the operation has been interrupted.

Also, you should have dealt with the other fault codes first before attempting the programming / grid calibration of the gearbox actuators / clutch.

If your vehicle battery is shot or anything over 5 years old it will also be degraded and may also cause issues with the electrical systems.

Looking at the previous fault codes, I would suggest that P0868 is your main one that has caused the initial problems with insufficient hydraulic pressure in the actuators that do the clutch and gear changes.
Fault Code: P1724
Description of Fault: Fault with the signal for the position of the gearbox actuator in the gear engagement shaft: Open circuit or short circuit to the plus.
Description of the diagnostics
The voltage of the signal is lower than 0,4 V
The time of appearance of the fault code is 1s
Context of appearance of the fault code - The following conditions have to be met:
- Ignition on
- The starter motor is not operating
- Absence of gear changing
Technical precision on the context of appearance of the fault code: Supply voltage correct
Absence of fault codes P1586 - P1587
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • No faults for 1 second
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Engine running or in Stop and Start phase
    - The gear change is down-graded (Gear change takes longer)
    - The gears above 3rd gear cannot be engaged
    - Activation of Manual mode
    - Request for neutral accepted when vehicle stopped
    - If the vehicle has the Stop and Start system: Stop and start function deactivated
  • Engine stopped and not in Stop and Start phase
    - Gear change prohibited (until the ignition is switched off)
    - Request for neutral via the lever is achieved through opening of the clutch
    - Starting impossible
Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message (*):
  • Warning lamp MIL
  • "SERVICE" warning lamp
  • Sport warning lamp
  • Snow warning lamp
  • Automatic or 6-speed piloted manual gearbox warning lamps (Orange PRND triangle)
[*]Display of a "-" on the fascia panel
Symptoms:
  • Difficult/impossible to change a gear
  • Lack of power
  • Absence of automatic stopping of the internal combustion engine
Suspect Areas:
  • Gear engagement sensor
  • 12-way connector of the piloted manual gearbox ECU
  • 12-way harness of the piloted manual gearbox ECU
  • Controlled manual gearbox ECU

Fault Code: P0868
Description of Fault: Oil pressure deficit fault: Pressure too low. Hydraulic pressure too low.
Context of appearance of the fault code
The following conditions have to be met:
- Ignition on
- The starter motor is not operating
- Absence of gear changing
Technical precision on the context of appearance of the fault code: The pump is operated.
No fault coming from the oil pressure sensor
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Hydraulic pressure above the minimum pressure (For 0,5 s)
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Changing gear impossible if the pressure is lower than 35 bars
  • Emergency request for neutral if the pressure is lower than 31,9 bars
Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message (*):
"SERVICE" warning lamp
Sport warning lamp
Snow warning lamp
Automatic or 6-speed piloted manual gearbox warning lamps (Orange PRND triangle)
Display of a "-" on the fascia panel
Symptoms:
  • Changing gear impossible if the pressure is lower than 35 bars
  • Emergency request for neutral if the pressure is lower than 31,9 bars
  • Difficult/impossible to change a gear
  • Lack of power
  • Oil leak
Suspect Areas:
  • Electro-pump
  • 30 A fuse relating to pin 5 of the ECU connector
  • Pressure sensor
  • Electro-pump
  • Controlled manual gearbox ECU
  • Hydraulic leak on the electrovalve
  • Electric motor
  • Reservoir
  • Accumulator
  • Leak/kinking in the hydraulic piping
  • Piloted manual gearbox electrovalve block
  • Gearbox actuator surpression valve
  • Selection solenoid valve
  • Piloted manual gearbox electropump
  • Pump seal
  • Piloted manual gearbox electric motor
  • Electrical harnesses
  • Fuses

Where is the pressure sensor located and what regulates the pressure is it a mechanical pressure relief valve or is it the pump run time that regulates the pressure

It is a electrohydraulic system that uses an ECU and a device for piloting S-CAM actuators by Magneti Marelli.
piloting Actuator.PNG
(1) Actuator electro-hydraulics.
(2) Actuator electro-pump

So it uses an actuator electro-pump unit electric motor, with pressure stored in the accumulator.

Diagnostic kit is required to depressurise the hydraulic system before any work is carried out!
