Hello all,
I've taken my 2006 C5 to a mechanic for diagnosis of why the cooling fan does not run. Was told the problem is the fan itself and it needs replacing. Replaced the fan with a used one but turning the ac does not start the fan.
So now I'm thinking that the fan is probably a dud and I should replace it. However before doing that I would like to run a proper test.
Does anyone know how to do a cooling fan test via lexia?
Is it possible to test the cooling fan via lexia?

It should be possible, go into the ECU, then actuator tests.

Does the air con make any attempt to run by hearing the compressor clutch clicking ? If not then the air con might need regassing if it is low on refrigerant.

This part's a favourite for failing on the C5, No3 in the picture.

It's always difficult witch fan you mean, if you don't mentioned the one at the front of the car, or inside for the ventilation.
The one in front is easy to test with the diagbox.

Just tried doing that. Lexia says the actuator test is not possible. Assuming that's because the fan is a dud.
Either way thanks for the help. Cheers.

Sorry about the confusion. The one in the front for cooling the engine.Kees wrote: 02 Jul 2024, 14:56 It's always difficult witch fan you mean, if you don't mentioned the one at the front of the car, or inside for the ventilation.

Yes, you have to go in the repair section from the BSI and look for testing the fan, if it's oke you will hear it start and increase the fan speed.

I wouldn't assume that, all Lexia does is trigger the command to run the fan, if you have a blown fuse or wiring issue to the fan it will not operate even if you command it with Lexia. Really need to have a look at a wiring diagram.
You should be able to test the fan motor off the car by applying 12v & earth directly to it (mind your fingers)
If its the same as the Mk1 C5 The low & high speeds are triggered by the injection ECU so the Low & high speed tests are in the injection ECU menus but the mid speed (for the A/C) is triggered by the BSI so use the BSI menu to test the mid speed.
