Nothing to do with cam belts but put question here as the VIN no was posted recently on this thread.
I've been reading here about DPF,s on diesels but my wife's 2014 C4 millenium doesn't appear to have one & if it has I wouldn't know where to look for it or indeed recognise one. The vehicle was purchased new in France where I vaguely remember being told it had no DPF. The vehicle was an EU import into France from the Czech Republic.
I don't think I've seen any comments re filter &/or additives from our local Citroen garage who have serviced it from new & it's passed it's CT (MOT) without comment each time.
Marc. Any chance you could wave your magic wand & tell me if whether or not it's got a particulate filter?

Re: DPF Location
Hi Vic
Yes, according to the factory build specifications it should have one as just about all diesels did from that period going forward.
Not sure where you or others are looking - but if you are expecting to find it at the rear or mid-section like other vehicles, you won't see it, as it's part of the catalytic converter assembly, in the lower part, shown below at (11), and is in the engine bay, probably a vertical assembly, like mine

I thought it best to split this into a separate topic whilst at it.

Re: DPF Location
Cheers Marc. quick reply as usual.
I've just had a look & it deffo seems to have the bit you show as 11which I thought was just the CAT. This then begs the question; does it require any addditive & if so where do I find the reservoir & if there is one how does one know what with & when to top it up?
As you can gather I'm clueless about these things on modern diesels & just about understand the engine on my old school 1984 Deutz Fahr D6507D 62HP tractor

Re: DPF Location
Here's the reservoir shown at (25). It is next to the fuel tank, protected by a heat shield. It is gravity fed and this vehicle requires 'Powerflex' additive specifically.
Normally you will get a warning pop up when the engine ECU determines that the additive is calculated as being low (there is no physical measurement / gauge).
If topping up, a minimum of 1 litre must be added, but it can be topped up beyond that. You will also need the additive counter resetting using Diagbox / Lexia afterwards.

Re: DPF Location
Thanks again Marc.
Too complicated for me to deal with.
Presumably the garage will deal with it if a warning pops up.
How frequent do these things need topping up? Is it mileage (kilometrage) related?

Re: DPF Location
You might start to get a low level message around 80k miles (around 130k km) depending on which engine you have. This could be listed in the car service schedule as well as when the dpf might need checking/replacing which should be more miles than the powerflex additive refilling.

Re: DPF Location
For this vehicle, the Additive is checked at 100,000 Km, then every 25,000 Km and topped up where necessary Vic.Vic Evans wrote: 16 Jun 2024, 13:48 Thanks again Marc.

Re: DPF Location
Thanks mark & Paul .
I can only assume that it's been done but will dig out invoices &/or check with garage owner next time I'm there.

Re: DPF Location
Because the fluid in the reservoir is not physically measured, it is only an estimate and therefore can vary from driver to driver, vehicle to vehicle as to when it needs topping up Vic. When checking the level, a dealer will have to decant the fluid and physically measure it. How many actually do that is another question and may just bung a litre in and be done with it.

Re: DPF Location
Thanks again for info Marc. I'm slowly learning about these new fangled things which would have never occured to me if I had not joined & read about them on this great forum
Is this stuff expensive or would a garage just bung a litre in & cover the cost in the general service charge?

Dream on!
@£85 a litre at the dealer, you'd have to be on very good terms with your mechanic!

OOPS! Don't think I've seen that sort of number on any service invoices & probably wouldn't have as it was on 110,000km at the recent service & nothing on the invoice for dosage like that.GiveMeABreak wrote: 17 Jun 2024, 19:52 Dream on!

Still, not too bad spread over about 10 years motoring for Mme. in the C4.

Re: DPF Location
Yes it's only meant to be topped up at the said mileage so probably not more than twice in the vehicle's lifetime.
