Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
These sensors are fitted across many PSA vehicles - including the C4 Picasso and the later Spacetourer models so should be the same.

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Just out of interest, I've taken the door card out as per the guide, was working my way through dismantling the mirror...when I found one of the temp sensor wires was cut inside the mirror.
So joined it back up and it's apparently working. So my question is, can anyone think of a reason someone might have done this?

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Maybe somebody had accidentally cut it previously when trying to replace it and gave up leaving it as it was!

Yeah hopefully, just wondering if it's tied into any other parts of the ecu. Ah well will suck it and see. Fantastic guide though, absolutely invaluable!

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Apart from the outside temperature display, the temp sensor is also used for the correct operation of the Air Conditioning / Climate control systems. So it will be used by the BSI and the Climate control ECUs

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Does anybody know if the ambient /outside temp sensor has anything to do with the air conditioning? My temp sensor doesn’t work and I’ve now noticed my air con won’t turn on.

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
If the outside temperature is low (below possibly 6°C ?) the air con will not work. It probably mentions this somewhere in the car handbook.

Yes, as I mentioned above - if your temp sensor in the wing mirror (which shows the outside temp on the multi-function display) is faulty, then this will have a direct impact on the operation of the A/C.Justing9424 wrote: 20 May 2024, 12:07 Does anybody know if the ambient /outside temp sensor has anything to do with the air conditioning? Thank you for your response, I hadn’t seen the second page of this thread when I posted my question. Some investigation and a new sensor may be a cheaper repair than a full regas.GiveMeABreak wrote: 20 May 2024, 13:20Yes, as I mentioned above - if your temp sensor in the wing mirror (which shows the outside temp on the multi-function display) is faulty, then this will have a direct impact on the operation of the A/C.Justing9424 wrote: 20 May 2024, 12:07 Does anybody know if the ambient /outside temp sensor has anything to do with the air conditioning? Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Hi, I found this forum via Google. I see a minor problem. Some time ago the temperature sensor in the right mirror stopped working. I recently ordered a genuine replacement part verified via VIN. Today I replaced the sensor by pinching the wires from the non-functioning sensor and connecting the new sensor to them. To save myself work and not have to rummage through doors.
But the sensor still doesn't show the temperature and now I don't know if the error is in the overall cable routing, so there was a problem earlier or when the diagnostics showed an error that the sensor is not working, so if there is no need to delete the error? So that the car knows to send an impulse if it no longer works?
Or just wait for some time? I don't know. I'd appreciate any tips. Thank you so much.

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Hi and welcome.
Don't forget that the wires are routed through the door aperture, so this is another typical area where the opening and closing of the doors can cause a break int he wiring.
So if you are sure you have replaced the sensor with a good working one, then I would be looking at the area where the wires go from the A pillar through to the door. Remove the protective grommet and check here for breaks or signs of split sleeving.

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Thanks for the response, so I have to remove the door cover as described here: viewtopic.php?p=599452#p599452 to check the cable is ok?

Re: C4 Picasso outside temperature sensor
Not really - unless there is a break inside. I meant the wiring loom in between the door and the pillar where the wiring loom goes into the front door. That is the weak point where the door opens and closes causing stress on the wiring over time and breaks.
