Hello again folks. I'm getting my old Mk2 Xantia TD ready for it's MOT. All going well except for an intermittent activation of the Air Bag lamp and no hazard flashing when selected. The indicators all work properly as indicators but I get nothing when I select the 4 way flashers. I understand there is a separate relay for the hazard warning flashing but can anyone please tell me where this is. I can then test it and replace if necessary. I have many and varied spare relays and I'm sure I have an appropriate one, I just don't know where it would go.
Thanks

Re: Xantia Hazard warning Relay location
Although my memory is getting a bit dim nowadays Tom, I don't think there is. Same unit as far as I recall. I might be wrong...
The Hazard switch is a known failure point though...
The forum has all the relevant wiring diagrams and these will be invaluable in resolving this.

Re: Xantia Hazard warning Relay location
Thank you, Jim. I'll have a go at the switch then. I'll swap it with the one from my estate. I would say a quick swap but they are Xantias so it's steering wheels off and facia strips prised away. Got till about 2:30 today if I'm to meet the MOT appointment.

Re: Xantia Hazard warning Relay location
Try working the switch vigorously a few times to clean the contacts, I have had success with that method.

Re: Xantia Hazard warning Relay location
Thanks guys, nothing worked so I opened the switch. Bit of analysis showed that the hold on and release mechanism is a small metall tongue with a tiny stud on the end to engage with a groove in a plastic moulding. This tiny, and I mean tiny, tip broke off. So the switch is truly kaput. I have a spare from my Mk1 but naturally this has only 8 pins to the Mk2's 9 pins. Wonder what the 9th pin is for? Anyway I'll search for another or try to find a way of connecting my 8 pin switch so it works. Any insights very welcome.

I think that I have a spare switch, but it is more likely to be S1. Maybe someone else has a spare S2 switch.
