Hello Friends,

I bought the car few days ago, and after 10 mintures drive, the Engine Check light goes on.

In my home, I checked With my PSA Diagbox 9.91 REV3, and i got: P226D 95 - Particle Emission Filter Faulty, Status : Permanent , Characterisation of the Faulty: Installation incorrect.

I didnt got usful information in google search....

Do you have any idea what should i check ?

Thanks !

Fault Code: P226D 95
Description of Fault: Particle emission filter faulty: Installation incorrect. Incorrect installation of the particle filter.
Conditions for Fault to clear: The following conditions have to be met:
- After switching the ignition off and then back on
- When driving
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Engine diagnosis warning lamp
Symptoms:
  • Smoke at the exhaust
  • Whistling and whining/hissing/rushing of air
  • Fluid leak/smells (diesel fuel, oil, etc.)
Suspect Areas:
  • Particle filter differential pressure sensor intake pipe
  • Particle filter
  • Catalytic converters
So my first question would be, has any work been done on the particle filter or it's sensors that you are aware of?

Hello Mark,

I paid attention, that Catalytic converter maybe has been repaired.

There is welding marks, and Zinc spray paint on it.

Particle filter for Patrol Engines ? I always thought it was a component only diesel engines have.

Thank you

No, the later petrol engines now also have a particle filter and if you can see welding marks and tape, I would be very suspicious that someone has been there and removed the filter or the catalyst.... and then welded it up. There is no other reason I can think of for breaking it open and going inside it - there are no serviceable parts.

Let me have your VIN and I'll check if this is the case with your vehicle, but very likely to be the case with this code.

It's just possible the unit was split in order to do a proper clean of the DPF section and then welded up afterwards. I've seen videos of this being done on other cars.

No need, Just the VIN is needed, our software masks it.

So confirmed that this one does have a particle filter. I can't see why it would need taking apart for a 2020 vehicle. The particulate filter on petrol vehicles last way longer than a DPF, because petrol engines get hotter and therefore have hotter exhaust gas temperatures so burn off the particles more quickly. Secondly, because petrol has far less particulate matter than a diesel and the particulates are smaller, so they hardly clog.

Hello,

Issue solved.

1. I payed attantion that there is some sensor, with 2 pipes connected to the Catalytic converter.
2. I saw it not have the original pipe metal bands.
3. by searching the web, i found at Ebay.co.uk, Second hand of this sensor with the original pipes. and i checked the direction of the Pipes compare to the sensor location.
4. I found that the pipes were connected incorrectly to the sensor.
5. So i switched the sides, i deleted the Error via Diabox, and issue solved. the error light didnt pop again.
6. It match to the error information : "Particle emission filter faulty: Installation incorrect. Incorrect installation of the particle filter."

Thanks for all the support Marc.
