Still a really good looker is the 406 Coupe The big shame is that originally it was slated to be the Xantia Activa... Just imagine that with a manual V6 and Activa suspension. A dream machine
The big problem, if it's an auto with an HP20, it'll be a ticking time-bomb...

Very nice, it's in "Hyperion" same as my HDi.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑22 Apr 2024, 14:40 Here's one for the coupe lovers, it may be cheap because of the issues but the varieties of paint colour puts me off:

Intriguing it's on the 16" Hoggar alloys rather than 15" starfish, thought all 2.0 stuck to 15" but maybe they got a bit of an upgrade when the rest of the Coupe range went from 16" starfish to 16" Hoggar.
(Edit: Hoggar not Hoggard, autocorrect argh!)
As it's an EW10J4 coupe it'll be the AL4 automatic (as was my Aegean blue Coupe - now BE4 manual. Ok well "now" engine and gearbox less, but for the last 30,000 before that it was the BE4) my AL4 had a mechanical failure, seems fairly rare as I couldn't find anyone else online describing the same fault.CitroJim wrote: ↑22 Apr 2024, 15:25 Still a really good looker is the 406 Coupe The big shame is that originally it was slated to be the Xantia Activa... Definitely a "cruiser" not a rocket with 2.0 and AL4.

Not quite the time-bomb with the AL4 and indeed, a luxury cruiser... They are very comfy

If ever a car needed colour coded mirrors it would be this one, but even so I'm a bit tempted!!

Re: Classic for under £10K
Good cars those. We had the Aussie version of it - the Holden Apollo - when we lived in Darwin in the early 90s...
I got caught speeding in ours. 70 Km/H in a 50Km/h limit... Cost me a $105 fine...
It looks bigger in the photos than it actually is. In Australia they were considered a small car.
You'd not regret getting one Mick... Can't be many about now...

I had a very nice silver one for sale, it took an age to shift and in the end went to a mechanic from another dealer locally at a discount.

Judging by recent comments from Alisdair I believe this one belongs on this thread. I would have been very interested if it had not got the mileage it has.

Is that just your own sobriquet Jim or maybe one that is universally known like the "squashed seagulls"

Maybe my own invention Neil but that's what I've always known them as Can't think now where I first heard them called that... If I ever did, that isNewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑30 Apr 2024, 11:27Is that just your own sobriquet Jim or maybe one that is universally known like the "squashed seagulls"

Re: Classic for under £10K
Just had a peruse of the catalogue so far for Morris Leslie's Classic Auction for their coming sale on Saturday 18th May 2024. Probably the most northerly UK classic auction described as Perth, but 19 miles away off the road to Dundee (which is actually closer than Perth) at Errol Airfield.
The website has pretty duff navigation 5 pages in the catalogue, and I found plenty of window shopping and FCF thread interest in the listings so far.

I quite like some of the Tatras but not that one.
