P11A3 camshaft position sensor incoherence btw engine speed sensor and camshaft position sensor

Unread post by 508c5 »

Good morning

This code and the text in the attached pic popped up this morning, car seems to drive normally.

What should be the protocol for this code?

Peugeot 3008 1.6 165bhp VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Fault Code: P11A3
Description of Fault: Fault in the exhaust camshaft dephasing: Incorrect setting of the exhaust camshaft. Discrepancy between the adaptation value initialised in the cycle for the fault appearing and that initialised previously for the exhaust camshaft dephaser higher than a threshold.
Conditions of activation of the diagnostics
- ECU initialisation: The adaptation value for the exhaust camshaft dephaser is read in the ECU. This value used for defining a range that is acceptable in the next adaptation
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Delete the fault, using the diagnostic tool
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Deactivation of the canister purge function
  • Possible deactivation of the hill start assistance
Symptoms:
  • Starting impossible
  • Stalling at idle
  • Lack of power
  • Timing: Restarting impossible
Suspect Areas:
  • Camshaft dephasers stuck
  • Insufficient oil pressure
  • Circuit blocked/frozen
  • Valve timing may be set incorrectly

Could be a sign of the timing chain starting to stretch or the tensioner wearing on it

Thank you, actually non of the symptoms is occurring 🤔 and i changed the tensioner (just as maintenance ) a few months ago and it drove about 7k to date.

Given the last three points, could it be that the vvt solenoid is malfunctioning ??

Well, i replaced the vvt solenoid and the code went off as well as the "check engine" light however, a scan picked up a new fault code - P0010 (dephaser somthing...) - again, the "check engine" dash light is off and the ride feels ok.

So, what does the P0010 stand for?

I checked the timing chain, seems solid (see pics) and the tensioner seems ok as well (it drove only 7k km) so do the timing cahin bracketa and the camshafts 8-[

Concurrent with my post on P0010-00, as per now, the VVT replacement seems to be the solution
