Heated seats doesn't work

Unread post by Milordas »

Hello everyone,

My both heated seats doesn't work. I tried to change both fuses, but that didn't help. Can I check something more or should I concede that my heating elements are dead?
By the way, my seats have these little holes in them. Is there any chance that I have ventilated seats? One of my friends was very sure that they are ventilated, though I didn't see a button or a switch for that.

No they are not ventilated.

The questions to ask is have all the heating elements gone at the same time on both seats? Do both the seat and seat-back elements not work on both seats?

Which fuse did you check in which fusebox?

I dont know if both heating elements gone at the same time. I believe I bought the car this way.
Yes both seat elements not working on both seats.
Fuses I replaced was G38 and G39. Both of them were 30A.

Those are the correct fuses, but make sure you have checked the correct set, as there are 2 sets of these fuses!

One set is in the BFH1 Cabin fusebox:

G38 3A battery + ESP ECU
G39 10A battery + electrohydraulic suspension

The other 2 are the ones you want to check in the BH12 Cabin Fusebox:

G38 25A battery + driver´s heated seat
G39 40A battery + passenger´s heated seat - HIFI amplifier - Cielo

The handbook is all wrong - they show the same fuse diagram picture for 'C' & 'B' in your picture.

This is better:

It's the top ones that have the fuses fromG29 to G40 that you need to check the G38 & G39

Yes I checked the fuses G38 and G39 in the top. Not the easiest to replace.

The only other thing I can think of then is the heating elements, but the only way to test is to do some diagnostic electrical work with the chairs out to check the rheostats and other modules to see if they are getting power.

You may have to live without them (or get some thermal undies :-D ), as if you have the leather seats, they are bonded on, so can't be easily replaced.

We had a Volvo 265 and had to have hot water bottles and blankets for the kids as I couldn't get the heating to work, this was in November and lots of snow and frost.
Turned out that someone had disconnected the vacuum pipe to the heater buttons that operated air control flaps.
Like a sauna once I rectified that :)
No heated seats in that thing though.
This Mazda has and they heat your bum when they are supposed to be off. Never put them on consciously.

Not sure what are you trying to say? So if I have a problem with one of the comfort features in the car I should just leave it as it is without trying to solve it if its possible?
