Today my car developed a fault with its electric hand brake and wouldn't operate. Got the car home locked itt and left it sitting for a couple of hours then i jumped in and pulled the handbrake button and the handbrake engaged..i could clearly hear the motor go and the rear brakes lock up...i managed to drive off no problem but then within seconds the fault came back.... does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong
Cheers
Peter

Welcome
Quite likely that some of the wires to the handbrake motor(s) have rubbed through on the inside of the trunking. Peel back the cover and look for any spots of corrosion.

Yes, that's it. It might be something else, but this is a common issue on these, and easily checked.

Re: 2015 c4 grand picasso handbrake fault
Still cant get looking at it till this wind and rain stops and we have another storm due tonight but oddly enough the handbrake had started working intermittently.. hopefully this drys up soon so i can get a proper look....i just purchased new rear pads and discs as the ones on it are completely worn down ... not sure if worn pads and discs could be contributing too the problem or not
