Pleased the universal puller worked; wish I'd bought that instead of the special one now

I shouldn't worry Chris, I had the universal puller when I was 17 but I still had to go to 30+ discos before it worked!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I'm not sure clanking this thing round the local disco would have done me any good!

I tried it previously and all it managed to do was bend the threaded rod a touch (think was lower engine mount I was attempting to fit)
Fortunately a couple the silver pieces of the sizes I needed survived the "pound the living snot out of them with a big hammer" technique I had to deploy instead!

Good news: C5 MOT passed, no advisories
Bad news: Coupe very much did not

Brake lights do take a long time to go off when pedal released. Pedal is slower to rise (than the other Lucas caliper equipped Coupe) but I'd put this down to the four pot Brembos calipers. As to the brake light remaining on as a result, not something I'd noticed (from the driver's seat
bit hard to see, no!)
Not sure about this rear sill rust, I did not spot anything, but will soon find out.

Mick has said it all most eloquently Matt and I can only agree
I'm sure the Coupe will be good and in rude health very soon... At least you know precisely what's needed.
On the brake issue, check the flexi hoses have not collapsed internally and are acting like little accumulators/one-way valves - that could well account for the 'slow' pedal...

Thanks Jim. I've got new front Flexi hoses "in stock" as were advisory last year (not mentioned this time) I'll put a request on the parts number thread for the bleed nipples front and rear - I always put new on first time I've some bleeding to do on a car (as usually find some "rusty stumps" waiting for me at each corner!) Not sure if the Brembos are different to the Lucas calipers (M10x1.0 from memory) rears are M7x1.0.CitroJim wrote: 05 Dec 2023, 17:47 Mick has said it all most eloquently Matt and I can only agree![]()

Yes, M7x1 is the standard nipple size Matt... I've a feeling the Brembos will be these... Must say I've not come across an M10 nipple from memory but have seen M8 and M6 ones...
M8 can be good when you need to drill out and retap an M7 and I've used M6 ones to make up little adaptors to retrieve hopelessly damaged M7 nipple threads in alloy calipers...

Loving that bit of resourcefulness there Jim! (And excuse for a play with the lathe too
)
Am pretty sure the other Coupe was M10x1.0 one end, M7x1.0 on the other.
In fact, looking back in time in my eBay purchase history, it seems I bought all these: Just need to recall where I might have neatly stored them in the garage....

The above pre dates buying the HDi Coupe, so would be aimed at Coupe or C5 use.
