I just love that giant Mecanno bridge
That took all the fun out of it...Rp0thejester wrote: 14 Nov 2023, 21:39 As for the TVs thank goodness they invented Auto Tune, I hated moving the bars and readjusting the aerial

There's a Meccano seat too
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Mec ... ?entry=ttu
Not so fast Matt, you could well be the closest active member to the Meccano Bridge and Seat
Click the google maps link above an you will see where it is...probably a mere 25 miles from Chez Matt
Yes it's an out of the armchair pilgrimage but not impossible, and may even be mildly entertaining

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
Well fancy that, yes it is pretty close and I have never heard of it before now! Good guess on distance too, Google reckons 26 miles door-to-bridge so will have to plan in a trip when next traveling down the M61

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
I had....
Subbuteo and collected about 20 teams, international and home teams, all with the solid base on the players, and the pitch, two types of goals, those silly Corner kickers and throw in players, never went as far as the flood lights and pitch surroundings, don't think I even played it correctly but never the less loved it use to play world cups and league games. Still got them all somewhere in the loft.
Then came Army Meccano, this I remember thinking was an odd present as it was all green and not as exiting as the proper Meccano as I had the motorised one that you could make diggers and cranes and all that kind of stuff, so not overly impressed with this Christmas present, must of been only child syndrome.
But I did love the Hornby Oo railways and stock I use to collect, then an Uncle brought from France an SNCF train set, a blue train (no idea what model it was) and carriages made by Lima wow was I the Bees knees only problem the Coupler was different and would not couple to my Hornby stock... oh well life's full of disappointments.
Hornby Train I always Converted but never got ...... Evening Star 9F Class R398 something can't remember last number now I was 10 (50 years ago) a fair bit of water has gone under the bridge since then.
In 2nd place, I wanted the Blue Mallard A4 class LNER sadly all above my parents and my means in those days.
Ah well I want does not always get, not even as an only child

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
Never had Subbuteo, but had this played by Bobby Charlton himself. Got comprehensively hammered once by a much older cousin, but learned some moves off him which had me virtually scoring at will in future games.
The other football game I had was a decent sized baize-covered pitch with short legs at each corner, and players with magnets in their base which were moved by magnets on plastic sticks under the table. Can't remember what that was called, players and sticks were light blue and red.

I used to play in a Subbuteo league and loved every minute, just popped up to the bedroom to produce this:

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
Meccano challenge still outstanding, but here;s a new one.
The Caution Air Brakes Challenge Do they even have this warning on Lorries/Buses any more
The internet is pretty devoid of images of such signs! So bring an original photo to the thread of the dire "Caution Air Brakes" sign if they exist in 2023.

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
Often wondered why but don't recall if I ever had an explanation.
