I have a Peugeot 5008, 2012, 1.6 HDi 1560cc 82KW 112HP 9HR (DV6C)
A warning light starts showing "Engine Failure" followed by "particle filter additive level too low repair needed"
I found the right genuine type as "9736A0 Diesel Fuel Additive DPF" on amazon, but it costs 3 times the alternative on ebay. There is also a PAT Fluid PDF, but not sure if this is suitable.
My question is, does it matter using the alternative additive vs the genuine one?
How can I know the tank capacity so I can buy 1 litre or 3 litres?
I managed to take a photo of the tank
Thanks in advance.

Yes, the additive type does matter and is specific to the vehicle's system and build date.
If you provide your VIN - please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff, then I will be able to advise if you have a pouch or reservoir based system and the correct additive type.

Refillable reservoir; almost certainly Powerflex, but Marc should be able to confirm. A litre will be plenty.
Three are a number of generic additives that say suitable for all systems - I've got some of the stuff that DPF doctor use to refill mine when the time comes (did my Sister's car with it last year). You do need a diag computer to reset the level once you have done it. I've got diagbox, and not that far away (Lanark) if you need it re-set.

Yes tank-based and model & build date indicate Powerflex additive to be used.

Re: Peugeot 5008 1.6 HDi Eolys tank capacity
Thanks, Richard and Marc
I am inclined to get Neo Brothers Fuel Additive Refill Kit EOLYS unless you advise against it. It is about one-third of the cost of the PSA one. It mentions that it is compatible with my car with POWERFLEX, and the specific part number (9736A0) in the description.
@RichardW, thanks for offering help with the diagbox! I'll buy the additive and top it up at the garage. I know not all diagnostics tools work rest the level, so if the garage's one doesn't work, I'll PM you.

They're an established supplier, should be OK - best to avoid the really cheap stuff as it may not have enough of the active ingredient.

Hi. Hope its okay to post here. I have exactly the same issue and have tried everywhere to find out what additive I need. I believe its the same one as identified in this thread but is anyone able to confirm if I provide the vehicle details? Cheers.

Welcome
If you post the VIN (it will auto hide) we can check what it needs. If it's an early one it might need a pouch.

So you have a reservoir system not a pouch and require Powerflex additive.
