Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I don't know if Jim dislikes it for the same reasons as me but my reason is what may be classed as that of a grumpy old man!
As I grew up we celebrated annually a significant event in England's history with Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up our parliament. In my younger days at this time of the year every street corner would have a youngster with their homemade Guy collecting pennies for fireworks for bonfire night. That was a great tradition and joined in by almost everyone. Then someone decided to promote the americanism of halloween and when combined with the ever stricter Health and Safety legislation bonfire night as we knew it was surpassed in popularity. A great shame in my opinion and something I will never support!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

It's pissipitating down here at the moment and will be for the next few hours, so hopefully that'll stop the little darlings from going door to door around here

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
87's great storm nearly wrecked my Rover!! I was sitting in a traffic queue at the red lights in Langley Road Watford when four or five roof slates crashed down on the road a yard or so in front of me!! Was I happy when the lights changed and I got away from there!

I was working in greenhouses on the south coast. You can imagine what that looked like 'the morning after'

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Do we have an Off Topic conversation area? So things like this can be continued elsewhere without stopping the topic?

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Oh. The joys of Chinese ersatz Zama carburetors
A mate asked me to look at one of his customers Stihl blowers as it wasn't working.
My usual reply : "Doing nothing would give me grerater pleasure"
Open carb surgery on it revealed that it had crud in the internals, the throttle arm didn't actually contact the idle adjuster so it couldn't be adjusted for idle until I'd bent it into shape, adjusted the metering lever to the correct spec...... and whoever got to it before me had connected up the two fuel pipes the wrong way 'round. That's a good number of faults for something that is only 1½" square
Once I'd dealt with that lot it was working fine - or as I normally hand things like this over "It was working fine when it left here"
