I don't know if Jim dislikes it for the same reasons as me but my reason is what may be classed as that of a grumpy old man! :-D As I grew up we celebrated annually a significant event in England's history with Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up our parliament. In my younger days at this time of the year every street corner would have a youngster with their homemade Guy collecting pennies for fireworks for bonfire night. That was a great tradition and joined in by almost everyone. Then someone decided to promote the americanism of halloween and when combined with the ever stricter Health and Safety legislation bonfire night as we knew it was surpassed in popularity. A great shame in my opinion and something I will never support!!  :-D

It's pissipitating down here at the moment and will be for the next few hours, so hopefully that'll stop the little darlings from going door to door around here  :-D

Not yet, that's not arriving until later tomorrow 8-[ As an aside - we've got very similar conditions at the moment with events of '87 The Great Storm. The trees are still in good leaf and the ground is absolutely sodden.... al it needs is to blow a bit........ #-o

I shall be taking one of my chainsaws home with me after work tomorrow - just in case !

87's great storm nearly wrecked my Rover!! I was sitting in a traffic queue at the red lights in Langley Road Watford when four or five roof slates crashed down on the road a yard or so in front of me!! Was I happy when the lights changed and I got away from there! :-D

Do we have an Off Topic conversation area? So things like this can be continued elsewhere without stopping the topic?

Oh. The joys of Chinese ersatz Zama carburetors #-o
Nearly a good carburetor - own work
Nearly a good carburetor - own work
A mate asked me to look at one of his customers Stihl blowers as it wasn't working.
My usual reply : "Doing nothing would give me grerater pleasure"

Open carb surgery on it revealed that it had crud in the internals, the throttle arm didn't actually contact the idle adjuster so it couldn't be adjusted for idle until I'd bent it into shape, adjusted the metering lever to the correct spec...... and whoever got to it before me had connected up the two fuel pipes the wrong way 'round. That's a good number of faults for something that is only 1½" square :-D Once I'd dealt with that lot it was working fine - or as I normally hand things like this over "It was working fine when it left here"
