EGR Change

This is probably a shot in the dark, but can you tell me how a garage would be able to change my EGR valve and how long it would take please?

Sorry, forgot to ask for the part number for the EGR valve, my son was giving me earache!!!! I'm hanging my head in shame....

Book time on your vehicle to replace EGR Valve in situ is 3.10 hours, but if gearbox was out this drops to .20.

Thanks for that. I'm obviously not surprised it's unavailable from Citroen. But I am determined to find a way to access it to replace it. If dropping the gearbox is the best way to go then I'll do EGR, clutch and dpf at same.

Do you have access to any mechanic step by step guide to get to that EGR? It's the worst designed engine bay ever!!! I blame Fiat and Lancia, Citroen and Peugeot are usually easy/ier to work on.

Are number 3 and 5 the wrong way round?

What makes you think there is anything wrong with it? I have generally found those old vacuum operated EGR valves to be pretty reliable.
Have you tried wynns EGR3 spray?

Yeah I've tried that, I plugged in diagbox and it's showing P1404,the other fault codes I can live with. I think because of where it's positioned on the C8 many were scrapped, and why would a garage wouldn't want to do it.. I will change it, it's just how to reach it, no point doing dpf if EGR is wrong or right, might as well do it whilst I have the access, but the diagnostic is saying P1404, so let's see...

Not to my knowledge - it's just viewed in the diagram from the back of the engine.

Whats your air flow readings from the MAF at idle with engine warmed up?
The EGR valve on this car has no direct feedback/position sensor, the only way the ECU has any clue about what its doing is by the airflow readings from the MAF, an issue with the MAF can make the ECU think there is an EGR fault.

Oh okay I'll look into that. I'm basing everyone on worse case scenario at the mo and hoping for the best. The DPF definitely needs cleaning/replacing I can only imagine that the DPF being blocked would gunge up the EGR and if that's the case hopefully a few cans of cleaner would clean it. If not and I need a new clutch fitted anytime soon then it'll be replaced then no matter what. Where would I locate the MAF sensor?
