Hi. someone kindly went into the back of my car and knocked out the drivers side (UK) parking sensor. I have tried a couple off ebay that are supposed to have the same part number but they do not work. i know it is not the wiring as I have tried it in the other outer rear position and the fault code goes with location.
Is there anything that I should be aware of on this? I had seen that there could be issues with diagbox confusing the associated modules? Not sure if this is true.
Anyway, i have tried 4 different sensors and luckily the vendors have been kind enough to let me send back the units.
Code on the sensor is 9660163 77xt
Fault is B1228
any ideas? DS5 Hybrid 2012 with reverse camera (apparently that makes a difference)

Re: DS5 rear parking sensor
You're missing the last 2 digits of the fault code. It could be any of the following, are you using Diagbox as your diagnostic tool?
B1228 12 Outer rear right parking assistance sensor fault: Short circuit to positive (Parking assistance sensor supply voltage higher than the normal operating voltage range
- Short-circuit to positive detected on the parking assistance sensor supply wire)
B1228 14 Outer rear right parking assistance sensor fault: Short circuit to earth or open circuit (When the supply voltage of the bus linked to the sensor is higher than 2,4 V)
B1228 62 Outer rear right parking assistance sensor fault: Coherence ( Possibility 1 The membrane of the sensor is damaged
Possibility 2 Presence of a foreign body preventing the membrane of the sensor from vibrating)
B1228 96 Outer rear right parking assistance sensor fault: Internal (Outer rear right parking assistance sensor internal fault)
In your case it has an issue with either the sensor or wiring to Sensor numbered as (6) below:
So the parking and visual aid ECU is shown on the left side rear of the vehicle. The impact has certain knackered the sensor, but unsure about the harness wiring, which would need investigation.
If you need an original, genuine part number or part diagram, and can't already find the info you need on the Forum, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.

B1228 95.
The fault moves with the sensor so i assume it isnt the wiring

Re: DS5 rear parking sensor
Where did you get the sensor - seems you have picked up the incorrect one....
You have the info in my last post if you need help with correct part numbers and price.

Re: DS5 rear parking sensor
You haven't provided the VIN - Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.
I am trying to ascertain build date and system fitted, as you should be aware that if your vehicle has blind spot monitoring, then you will have additional sensors front and rear. These sensors are different from the others....
Secondly, if your vehicle is the later 'Mid-Life' version that was facelifted, then as I mentioned earlier you won't have the correct sensors. That part you provided is for the first generation and not compatible with the later model - which would explain the fault code concerning compatibility.

Re: DS5 rear parking sensor
Ok, so you have the initial range model. That part number you supplied is the correct superseded part for the REAR only sensors, not the front. So I can only assume the ECU, the wiring or you may have a fake / copy sensor / non-original that isn't compatible.

Re: DS5 rear parking sensor
Hi Thanks. As the fault moves with the sensor, then it is the cheap/clone sensor.
Thank you
Thank you
