Blue smoke C5 X7 2.0l HDi

Hello,

today when I was at the gas station and was waiting for others to fill up their tanks I noticed big cloud of blue smoke coming from my car. I turned off the engine and turned it on and of again like 2 times and after the second time blue smoke was gone. No warning lights, nothing out of the ordinary. The car ran good after that, no loss of power, no blue smoke and everything seemed normal.

What could be the possible cause of this cloud of blue smoke?

Could possibly be your dpf regenerating, were you driving for awhile before you went to the fuel station?

I drove around 5km (3.1 miles). But DPF regeneration should rise rpm's a little bit and warning light should come up, no?

No not really, it doesn't sound like the DPF was regenerating at only 3 mile drive. Could be an egr issue or worse case oil is burning

The revs wouldn't rise as that would mean the car would speed up! What happens instead is that the heated rear window and door mirror heaters are switched on so that there's more load on the engine which in turn raises the temperature of the exhaust for regeneration.

There's no warning light unless you fit one to the door mirror (usually driver's) which will glow whenever it's switched on.

Personally I wouldn't worry, it seems like it's nothing to worry about, could just be blowing rubbish out of the cat. If it happens more often then it should be investigated, but apart from that relax! It's part of the fun owning a Citroen

My first thought was that the oil was burning. Strange that it stopped and didnt came back.

No I did not. It was a one-time incident and did not happen again.
