C4 Grand Picasso 1.6HDI manual gearbox oil

Hello

I spotted a small oil leak under my 2008 C4 Grand Picasso which the local garage diagnosed as a driveshaft oil seal needing replacement. They replaced it today but when they drove it out of the workshop told me they didn't know how much oil should be in the gearbox and had put a fair bit in, but let them know if it starts making any strange noises and they'll top it up. Rather than get to that stage I'd like to go back asap with the oil capacity and ask them to refill it with the correct amount. There is no mention of the gearbox oil capacity in the handbook that I could see. Can anyone provide an answer to this please? It is a 110bhp 1.6 hdi with a 5 speed manual gearbox.

Tried the gearbox this morning and it struggles to come out of 5th so I presume it is underfilled or has the wrong oil specification

These boxes are "sealed for life" as stated by Citroen, but quantities of oil stated below will be for a new gearbox prior to having any oil in it. After draining, capacity will be 1.8 litres. You will have to completely drain it and refill it though, as there is no measurement check

Oil is filled by the air vent hole (29)

Draining / Refilling

(1) Vent hole.
(2) drain plug.
Remove the cap (2) to perform the draining.

Oil capacity gearbox empty: 1.9 ± 00.15 litres.
Oil quality: ESSO 75W80 EZL 848 or TOTAL 75W80 H 6965.
