Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I'm no botanist and hopeless at knowing what trees, plants and flowers are called, except for the most obvious ones...
Saw this on my run this morning...
It looks stunning and the photo doesn't really do it justice. It looks like a big thistle to me... Whatever it is, I rather like it
The garden it's in is not well maintained so I'm wondering if it's a spectacular weed or something deliberately cultivated?
Can any of you in possession of green fingers identify it?

That'll be an Echinops of some variety. Normally grown as a proper plant, but like most plants - in the wrong place it becomes a weed.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I have something similar in my garden.
Had to dig it out of the convolvulus and morning glory, all entwined. Ignore the unsightly plastic water pipe.
It is an onion. It was sprouting so I chucked it in a hole in the ground. That was two years ago. It grewed then collapsed and died but appears to have resurrected itself. Only the stem visible, all the leaves lay down on the ground a couple of months ago and are covered with there plants now.
Otherwise horticulture is a dismal affair currently, all the rain has battered everything down.
Found one from a couple of weeks ago that is clearer.

I got him loads of multi coloured balloons, so that will keep him happy for a few months. Stuff the 400quid I spent on other stuff

A potential blank day on Picture(s) of the day looms. FCF members are cordially invited not to let it happen

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I had rather a hectic evening yesterday and didn't get round to posting this collection which I came across on Sunday at a BBQ. I'm sure it will appeal to the silly shaped ball fans!!
