C5 x7 carpets removal

Unread post by Dunkah »

Hi all,
I recently had an issue with my steering rack pumping out all its fluid into the footwell, I’m on top of the steering rack issues so don’t have a problem there, but now have an oil soaked carpet that needs to come out to clean properly.
On a couple of other threads I’ve seen how to remove the seats and centre console but can’t find much info on removing the plastic trim around the doors, I don’t really want to go blindly pulling things until I know the method, especially as they’re plastic and not really fixable if I break anything.
Can anyone shed any light on how to remove door trim plastics or offer any diagrams that may help.
Many thanks

Someone may be able help more than this, but I have removed some of the front foot well trims and they are definitely just clipped in place. I started from the front under the dash. The centre console will be a pain...... Good luck. 🤞

So the seat needs coming out (beware airbags in seats / electrical connections), so disconnect the battery following the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure. I won't put the central console / seat removal here as you've seen that on other posts.

Or...

Use a wet and dry vacuum cleaner with plenty of detergent and followed by clean water rinsing.

Excellent stuff, thanks for that everyone.
I do own a wet and dry hoover so I was already thinking to try that first, but the oil has been soaking in for over a week, just hadn’t had the time to get to it yet so just in case it’s too far gone to hoover out.
Thanks again
