Hi,
I am looking for a used suspension pump (bhi unit) for a Citroen C5 estate.
VIN = VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
I'm finding it quite difficult to tell what the OEM should be for my particular model.
There seems to be lots of variations of the unit....5277P4, 5277E3, 5277K1 etc.
The number on the current pump is 9654068680....but I'm guessing this same pump number could be on more than 1 of these units.
Any suggestions on how to source the correct part ?

Re: C5 III suspension pump
The BHIs are configured for the specific vehicle options. So either match the complete unit numbers you have or we can provide the correct official OEM part number for you.
If you need an original, genuine part number or part diagram, and can't already find the info you need on the Forum, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.
If interested, links are below, we have your VIN.

Re: C5 III suspension pump
Is it because the pump has failed? It may possible to thoroughly clean the pump motor and get it working again.

Dave,
You will find it difficult to get a matching BHI unit but if your unit is okay and it is the pump use the number on the pump to search for a 2nd hand unit.
As suggested above check your pump for carbon sludge clean it out and that usually fixes the problem. But do check your wiring for the pump as there is a 40 amp maxi fuse which blows to prevent further damage to the pump from the sludge.

Re: C5 III suspension pump
Thanks Kenny.
Appreciate the advice. I will give give that a try though I am not an expert at these things.
If I still need to get another pump, I assume I just need to swap in my pump to the existing bhi unit.
Is that difficult to do ?

Re: C5 III suspension pump
There are basically three major components in the BHi assembly, the motor, the pump, and the valve controller unit. The motor has three wires connected to it; 12V, ground, and trigger (it has to have the ground wire as the assembly is mounted on rubber dampers). The valve controller unit has a complex connector, and electromagnetically opens/closes the valves. It is far easier to swap the controller unit over than the pump.
On my C5 Facelift the motor had failed some time before she came into my possession, and rather than clean the motor somebody had fitted a much stronger maxi fuse (60A instead of 40A). This eventually caused the windings to burn out. I got a BHi assembly from a similar age saloon C5 (mine is an estate), cleaned the motor, transferred the valve controller unit, sorted out the damaged bus bar (in the maxi fuse box), fitted a 40A fuse, and then fitted the BHi assembly. I then filled up the LDS reservoir, connected the battery back up, and the suspension came back on line.
The reason I took the valve controller unit across is because of the change of car shape. It would be reasonable to assume that there are different settings for the saloon and estate shapes, and these would be held in the valve controller unit. As the motor and pump were very similar (same connectors, although a different make of motor) there were no other changes required.
