C3 puretech EB2F 1.2 vt1 2013 oil baffle loose ??

Hi all. Im doing a rebuild on this C3 1.2 VTI PSA engine and noticed before replacing the sump that theres a plastic oil baffle sitting below the crank. It doesn't seem to be fixed in any way and the dealer says there are no fixings for it. It doesn't seem to actually touch any moving parts but it does move around. This just seems a bit wierd. Is this normal ?

Sounds odd to me. As a comparison, an older (2.0) EW10J4 engine: mild steel "windage tray" is robustly held in place with 4 M8 bolts.

Is there any chance it's only loose whilst the sump is off - and it's pinned in place once that is installed?

Na sits above it and cant be got at without splitting the crank case. It look strategic. Guess ill find out when i eventually start the car.
