More RCZ niggles

Unread post by randomandy »

Hello!

The RCZ has obviously decided that I am not busy enough already and has found a couple more jobs for me to look at! :-D

First up, it would be cooler sitting in the greenhouse! I have put a thermometer into one of the air vents and even with everything set to "Lo" the air coming out the vent is around 32degC. If I wind the temperature up to high then the air temperature from the vent gets above 60degC (I don't know how far as the heat was insufferable). It seems to be much the same irrespective of whether the air-con is turned on or not. I ran the same test on the 308 with the air-con turned on at the lowest temperature setting and quite quick the air was down to 11degC. Will replacing the thermostat fix it or does it need to see someone to have the air-con regassed?

Second, one of the bulbs behind the speedo has started flickering. Is it easy to get the instrument cluster out and if so, are there any instructions?

-Andy.

It could be another error preventing the A/C compressor engaging, so it is better to read the codes and the state of the system before attempting to regas.

I've finally managed to get some time to get the diagnostic kit onto the RCZ to take a look at the ECU for the heating / air-con.

Firstly, there are no fault codes showing. Secondly, all of the buttons and actuators appear to work with the possible exception of one as described below.

Looking at the sensor readings there is a bit of an odd ball:

Both of the blower air temperature values look to be full scale and possibly indicative of a broken sensor?

The other odd part is that the position of the recirculation flap always seems to show either "recirculation" or "movement in progress". I think once in maybe 10 minutes sat playing could I get it to read "external air".

Does this give anyone any more clues as to the cause of the problem?
