Citroen C5 X7 new upper rear door hinge

Unread post by turbovette350 »

Hi, Iv'e just fitted a new rear upper door hinge, the one with the box of tricks attached. I replaced it because the door wouldn't stay open now it's too stiff/notchy, does it need to be lubricated?
thanks Paul

I'd use some marine grease and lightly coat the latch, open and close the door a few times and that should help it.

Do all the other latches like this too. Water gets in these and starts rusting the internals, so I also greased the whole thing.

I just greased the whole thing and tried to cram as much into the seam as I could.

If you want to see what's inside, have a look here at a teardown, though I'm not so sure you'd want to remove disassemble it now! :-D

considering putting a small hole in the top and pumping oil/grease inside and sealing with a rubber bung.
I love Mativoire best colour for a C5 especially with the grey leather interior.
