We recently have a DS3 joined the family, but it has come with a seat defect. The upper lever that should release the seat back and also let the seat slide forward does nothing. I naturally assumed the cable was broken, but this turns out not to be the case. What has happened is that the lever the cable pulls on, behind the mechanism plastic cover, is sitting at its fully extended position, so the cable is just idling when pulled.
Despite a lot of looking, I have been unable to find an exploded view of the assembly and cannot work out if there is a non-destructive way to dismantle it to see where the problem lies.
(The second cable which operates the slide release is working fine).
So -- if anyone has any information or thoughts at all on dismantling and repair, I really will be most grateful to hear them.
Mike.

Re: DS3 Reclining / Sliding Seat Mechanism problem
Mike, to get to the cable mechanisms and the internals it is necessary to remove and dismantle the seat. The procedure is part of the seat strip-down, but will require me to put it together. If you require this and the parts info / parts diagram, then please see below:
If you need an original, genuine part number or part diagram, and can't already find the info you need on the Forum, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.
If interested, links are below, then pop your VIN up.

Re: DS3 Reclining / Sliding Seat Mechanism problem
Thank you for your reply.
I have the official workshop pages and unless I am missing something there is no reference to dismantling the recline mechanism. I presume they want to sell the seat back as an assembly with the mechanism.
I have the seat out on the bench with the mechanism in plain sight. All I really need to know is whether the recline assembly is capable of being dismantled, or a one time build (i.e. one use clamping devices)?
I should perhaps have added in my initial post that there is no problem with the recline mechanism if the lower lever is used; it is purely the mechanism lever that is actuated by the upper handle cable that is at fault.

Re: DS3 Reclining / Sliding Seat Mechanism problem
There is nothing else apart from the seat strip-down procedure and the separate components that are available as shown on the parts diagram. If you have all of these yourself, then there isn't anything else available I'm afraid. These combined show what parts are replaceable and how they are disassembled / reassembled. Anything not shown as a separate part will only be available only as part of another component.
Further, there are several versions of seat, depending on whether you have a 'DS3 Racing' or non 'racing' model. The 'Racing' version is a different seat with a different mechanism and additional cable components to the standard version.
