Re: Classic for under £10K
Not strictly in this thread but this is an example of the most competent off road vehicle I have ever had the pleasure to use, which I did frequently when working on the ICI pipeline radio system:

Re: Classic for under £10K
Here's another car likely to exceed the limits of this thread due to its rarity. This one looks to be in very good condition with relatively low mileage and would be a real tempter for me, despite the rather ungainly looks, if I really did have that oil well I mentioned yesterday!

When its one of these
This example spotted at Thirlestane is a V8 Estate.going one better than the CCC this is from the CCCC (Crayford Convertible Car Club) here
http://www.crayfordconvertibleclub.com/ ... rover.html
October 1969 saw the launch of the Rover P6 Estate. Never a true Crayford, the name has stuck over the years. The P6 estate was entirely the idea and work of Nobby Fry at FLM Panelcraft, Fulham, who's firm were building most of the B.M.C estates for Crayford under licence, for sale as Crayfords.
The first FLM P6 prototype was a pig, the rear roof drooped like a VW beetle back. David and Jeff at Crayford got Nobby drunk one night in an effort to tell him the truth, it was ugly. When sobered up next day he still wanted to go ahead, so Crayford agreed to do the PR, brochure and marketing for the car but only if the roof line was raised.
Crayford sold the first 100 cars and it was such a success, that H.R. Owen and Hurst Park Autos took over their liaison with FLM. The estate was an ideal second car for your Rolls. Today the Rover club believe over 400 were sold and, as a second car for the country estate, many survived well and cars are easy to find, the V8 estate in particular is still very sort after.

That P6 Estate would make me a magical bike carrier
I have a real soft-spot for the P6 and after the MK1 Mini it's possibly my all-time favourite British car... In some circles it's seen as the British DS...

Re: Classic for under £10K
Surely someone in their haste to post up the results has got this wrong £3,200 maybe, it has a ripped seat isnt in that brilliant condition, and was rough as a badgers bum on start up on the video. Has someone just gone bonkers because it has been in a quirky TV Series (The Detectorists).
£30,200!
You may remember me trailing it here...

and now the pictures are loaded up.Very nice too, but what on earth were Triumph thinking of with the upholstery. I enjoy the quirkiness of the usual TR7 tartan, I would still call this interesting in an odd, shocking sort of way but...
They really should have upped the colour saturation for a more dramatic effect![]()

It is in a lovely shade of yellow though... That would have carried me away and offered big money for it
And those seats would have sealed the deal

Re: Classic for under £10K
When my daughter was serving in the RAF in Berlin the services were able to buy cars tax free, most went for Saab turbos but quite a few bought TR7s, a lot of them at the time tended to go on fire behind the dashboard so the reputation dropped quite quickly.
The guy she married bought an Alfasud which was real fun to drive but by the time they came back to the UK every body panel had rotted away and been replaced.

Re: Classic for under £10K
This suggests to me that the Triumph TR7 was much more likely to be £3,200 than £30,200.
It would have been a definite sale at a £30,200 hammer price but doesn't show it as a winning bid.

I can never understand why they don't get a fresh MOT when they offer these cars for sale.

Re: Classic for under £10K
I'm a fussy bugger but no wheel arch liner front left and a crusty looking PAS pump as a result, mangled passenger door lock, performance weight saving absent second radiator fan. Not a fan of the silver with silver plus silver look. Thought was a bit of contrasting black to break it up a bit, quick search suggests so:
I'd forgotten those wheels came on the Saxo VTS, thought only the bigger Xsara VTS has those centreless(??) 5 spoke

P.s. hope it's not hiding massive rot - like HubNut's train ticket alternative 106!
