Members in the press!!

Unread post by mickthemaverick »

I couldn't find a suitable thread to post this in so I thought I'd start one!! :-D

This thread is for FCFers to post up where they have got into the press, local or national, hard copy or online. If you made it into the press post it up for us all to share!

To get things rolling here is my minute of fame: :-D

Magic :D Shame those local news websites are almost unusable :( An interesting article once you manage to get the site to show you it rather than all the spurious guff around it...

My most recent was talking about parkrun on BBC 3 Counties Radio to Babs Michel, one of our dearly loved presenters...

I have the off-air recording of it somewhere... You can really hear my West Country accent very strongly!

I've been 'face in group' on various foreign local TV stations - several times in Germany, once a fleeting glimpse in Ukraine, several times in France.... possibly elsewhere as well. Once uttered a one sentence response on a Sky TV documentary about 20 years ago, been filmed at various times and the footage may or may not have been used as I never bothered to find out. I was once part of a group of bods that made it into the centre spread of the Daily Mail  We were laughably described as 'intelligence experts' which only cemented my view that you really can't believe anything in that paper....... or any others for that matter

In the mid to late 70's I co-organised a, then new idea, single venue stage rally at Oulton Park and managed to blag a bloke from the BBC (Richard Duckenfield I think) to come with a cameraman to film a piece about it. I answered some questions to camera and to my huge disappointment, when the piece was shown on TV, they mangled my name by identifying me but with my co-organiser's surname!

It's good to get a result published as well as the original complaint because it shows people how the press can be helpful as well as annoying!!

Good to have it confirmed in print that you're an awkward cuss Mick!
