The Citroen tool seals on the sphere around the valve and the gas travels through the threads. Once the sphere is at pressure you then seal the valve to the sphere by rotating the hex on the back of the tool. I'll have a rummage and see what I can find valve wise. There is someone in Serbia who was recreating the valves at one point. He quoted me €12 per valve but never came back to me.

Have you got a link to the site you've seen? I'd be tempted to buy a bag of 50 if they are still available.

I may well have seen it in the parts list on your original topic. I've just checked Hagen and Schildkamp's website which is so outdated it's beyond belief and nothing comes up. I've emailed them for a contact number.

12 Euros a pop sounds quite a lot. If you no longer have a spare one, would it be possible to pop one off of one of the cars you do not use regularly? I'm hoping you have one kicking around though.

Looking at the pictures of the C850 on that page...


...it looks like it grips the round nipple with a variant of a sprag clutch...

Yes. These photos are MUCH clearer than those on the Tecnosir website.

Rotation simply needs to force it to grip tighter or loosen as the case may be.

Sort of the inverse of the diagram you show.

I've made a start on the CAD:






But as I'm looking at it, I'm acutely aware that the roller clutch (not a sprag I mis-spoke previously) is going to be a nightmare for the machinist making this:

I've modelled in the chamfers on the outer cup, and tweaked the groove sizes to work better with the circlip, which I've also added to the assembly, so it's starting to look the part:

I read somewhere that the plug in spheres have three indentations so I assume that these are at 120 degrees.

Is that tool just to remove the bung from the top of the spheres to allow the valve to be fitted?

With the sphere held secure in the socket on my trolley, I just use a pair of Stilsons when I remove the bung as they’re not that tight.

I literally laughed out loud when I read this, having done quite a bit of CAD work on this for Roger, and possibly started a cross-channel diplomatic crisis.

Uhm, some Scottish beard-tard reached out to Xantia007, the French proprietor of the website Roger linked to, by means of a Chat GPT, an Artificial intelligence system for those who don't speak geek, software-translated-email saying something like "I'm a Scottish Citroen fan, your website's great, can you give me some measurements from your Spehere degassing tool?" - in AI translated French email - along with some pictures like the screenshots annotated with what measurements I wanted.





After I sent the email, it dawned on me that if ChatGPT stitched me up with the translation, and I've not asked for citroen tool dimensions and instead sent something like "Yo Laser Lips! Your mother was a snow blower!!!", name that movie, I might have inadvertently triggered a cross channel confrontation, in pursuit of dimensions for components for a tool we do not need.

So long as we’ve not got a cross-border Diplomatic crisis we’re all good! Last time we got entangled with another great Mr, Bruce, it didn’t end so well…

So let me get this straight what did ChatGPT actually do for you? Was it able to find dimensions or did it actually produce the CAD model? I’m fairly sure it cannot do anything other than respond.

I’m surprised you could actually get on as all school kids these days seem to be using it to produce their homework!!!

Hopefully it doesn’t turn out to be an exercise in futility. The springs’ positioning and strength is probably quite critical. I’m guessing the springs needs to be strong enough to resist the forces and also probably needs to be able to rotate a tad to lock the ball into the indent.

May be worth asking the French Mr. Bond to send photos of tool in its stripped form. I think the French have been very accommodating in the past with their Scottish counterparts!

Morning All, I'm glad Jim liked my li'l quip about potentially causing a diplomatic incident

When AI produces CAD models like the stuff I've been knocking out recently, I for one will welcome our robot overlords. (Simpsons reference). The only thing that Chat GPT was used for was to translate an email I had drafted in Scottish English into French. In the email I deliberately plaid on the Scottish card because of "the Auld Alliance" as I know that "Parlez vous Anglais?" gets a much warmer response when preceded by "Je suis Ecossais".

Great news on the Technosir email, in light of David's comments do you want to continue pursuing the degassing tool, because you can either ask Technosir about when they could provide a C850, and or put my CAD models out for RFQ when complete, or just go with David's approach of a set of big boy pants plus a stilson. Not got your email yet Roger, but look forward to it.

Is "Parlez vous Anglais" similar to "Inky Pinky Parlez Vous" and its connotations about the certain "Mademoiselle from Armentieres"?

My gramps fought in the 8th Battalion Tank Corps in WW1 and used to sing the clean version of that to us when we were small.

My great Grandfather or perhaps even great great Grandfather on my Mum's side, whom I never met, was either a Coldstream and/or Grenadier Guard so we may be more closely related you and I.
