Took a road today on which we rarely travel, turned a corner and spotted this which just demanded a photograph. Set up to do a quick one out of the window and sods law on a very little used country road what loomed round the corner but a large Scottish Fuels/Certas tanker to spoil the quick snap.

So I parked up and had a closer look.

Yes that says
"Dunlop Gold Seal Remould"

The chances of setting out to specifically look for a "remould", and photographing it are virtually zero yet was allowed to happened today by a purely random sequence of events. The FCF has a thread for such things...

I remember Wipac things. Not in any detail though.

I went past their Buckingham site twice yesterday Wipac were once ubiquitous and second only to Joe Lucas, the Prince of Darkness...

They were most active in small motorcycles and almost cornered the market in mags and lighting... The 125cc D1 BSA Bantam had the Wipac S55 MK8 mag. No idea why that sticks in my memory but it does...

They also made after-market spotlights and replacement headlights and ignition parts for cars...

I very probably have supplied the only photograph of a gold seal remould tyre on the entire world wide web.

Plenty of images of proper Dunlop Gold Seal original tyres, many on motorcycle wheels, and maybe some are still produced for the classic market.

I've not come across those either, I used Wipac spark plugs, 3/6d in Woolworths, blue they were.

Very accurate recall of the price back in 1957 Peter, as this WIPAC advert confirms

I've never heard of India Autoway Tyres, but they were good enough for Raymond Baxter - anyone ever used them ?

I remember India tyres My first ever car had one... It had five entirely different ones - if you count the spare Happily, all of the same nominal size...

Judging by those percentages, I'm reckoning that the Plastic Padding actually provided most of the structural integrity of that car during your ownership
