I like that one Neil :D I notice in the many old railway groups I follow on FB there's quite a lot of colourised old photos now and some are very, very good...

Brings a new perspective to to subject and brings it more alive...

Have you ever come across the "King Arthur Class" Jim. One notable member has a notable number.....Sir Lamiel (I've never heard of it until today!) Not wishing to nick other folks very good photography, it's a very impressive beast as in these links
and it is in preservation, and a little bit of the history of it is told here

NewcastleFalcon wrote: 23 Oct 2022, 18:33 We've had the Northern Lights apparently round these parts last night, few local photographs of the bright green with purple above. Have to say those images are probably more of the art of photography, than the naked eye view of the phenomenon.
Ditto last night, but none from Falcon shutter clicks. Its a fairly regular occurance, but all of those vivid colour photos like this are not what is seen with the naked eye.
Decent if relatively dour presentation of the reality of the various stages of Northern Lights naked eye experience. I would fairly confidently say I have most likely have seen the Northern Lights in Northumberland without realising I have! Have to see if any of my point and shoots do a 10sec exposure and point it at grey haze when Northumberland gets its next red alert for the Northern Lights, and see what colours I get!

POTD Brick Club, fished out of a stream by the River Tweed at St Boswells Scottish Borders

We have
Thomas King Bellside...Nr Motherwell Lanarkshire
Preston Grange...Prestongrange Brick, Tile and Fireclay Works, Prestonpans, East Lothian
J.C.E. (James Coster Edwards)...Pen-y-Bont, nr Wrexham.
ETNA...Etna Brickworks, Armadale, West Lothian

All have their stories to tell and have been found all over the world, but first among equals today goes to the story of James Coster Edwards the most travelled brick of yesterday's crop by the Tweed.

The story is told here and his products were everywhere from the Titanic kitchen to London Underground Stations.

Our river is still quite high and Bury Field Common, where I ran to check it for tomorrow's parkrun, is still very soggy and squidgy... Wet feet 100% guaranteed

It's been a gorgeous day up here :D

Most of it spent with daughter and granddaughter but I did manage to get out for a bit of duathlon training... I have duathlon events on the 2nd and 16th April to get prepared for...

I was drawn to this picture I stumbled across via the "AA Village Signs" thread posting from Maurice, and a search for an image of the closed Butchers Arms pub. This led to www.closedpubs.co.uk, and an image from Geograph duly posted on one of the "FCF has a thread for everything" threads "Pubs Gallery..and the odd Hotel".

A riveting browse and visual feast if ever there was one... viewtopic.php?p=748879#p748879

The image is of the Raby Castle Pub, Raby Castle itself of course being in Co Durham, so the name intrigued as to how it was selected for a pub in Hull. It could have been any number of places and on first viewing I thought the scene was probably Gateshead. You have also got the old cars, and the pub the last thing standing.
